As other people already said, a mob grinder is the best option. With a decent mob grinder and a few hours of AFK farming, you'll never have to worry about gunpowder and other mob resources anymore.

the best mobspawner is monkeyfarms mobs on demand one. Just build one of those at the corner of the map and ligt up everything and it you should get loads of gunpowder.
