The next update will increase the damage for arrows, but decreases damage for Swords. Right now, the best way to kill a creeper is to charge at it with a diamond sword. Usually on the PC you have to hit it and back up. But on the 360 version they seem to just blow up no matter what (At least, that's what I think) Now when the sword is nerfed, if we charge at it, we will probably die, Since the 2 shot kill will be removed for the diamond sword.
Creepers kinda have to get nerfed or else I'm going to have to start making some god damn arrows. Which will probably take forever since flint takes forever to get.

I don't find flint all that tough to get. I currently have about 8 stacks of it just taking up space in a chest. Since I don't yet have an efficient mob grinder, I find I usually run shy of feathers rather than flint. Perhaps I'm just encountering an inordinate amount of gravel in my mine or maybe it's because I often just use my hand to mine it.
I agree with Urban_Blackbear, collecting them from dead skeles is far easier. Even without a mob grinder, just running around quickly in the morning after they "fry" in the sun usually yields quite a few ready-made arrows. I also usually get feathers from dead zombies this way; but for some reason not as many as I get of the arrows.
Any decent mob grinder will give you all the feathers you need, plus ready-made arrows.
It seems the xbox version doesn't yield as much flint from gravel, (wasn't the PC 1-in-5?) but every gravel block can give you a flint. What I do is get a flat clear space, line up a stack of gravel in a straight long line, and then hit them with a shovel. Some will cough up a flint. Lay the rest back down and repeat. Keep doing that and eventually you'll get a whole stack of flint. If I remember right, that's enough flint to give you 256 arrows.
I kill creepers with a stone sword on a regular basis, and without using bow + arrows first. No big deal. Besides, who uses only the sword once you have bow and arrows, anyway?
Building a Mob trap/grinder is time consuming but it's the best investment of time I've made so far hands down. I would go so far as to say it is a game changer (pun somewhat intended) . Being able to sit back in safety and collect what is pretty much and unlimited supply of feather, bone, arrows, and gun powder seriousily changes the way you play the game. At least it did for me.

Building one is on my to do list, but it isn't a real priority for me.
How many hits will it take to kill a mob now? Is it just 1 more hit or is it a few?
Depends on the sword you use. My friend's kid is awesome at killing creepers (at least on easy and normal difficulties). He's just so good at timing coming forward into the creeper, hitting it, falling back, and repeating. Even with his bare hand, the creepers seldom seem to actually blow up. On hard, they don't cut off their fuse unless you can fall back a long, long, long ways; so on that mode, they usually blow up on him. Me, they blow up... every time, nomatter what sword I'm carrying! I'm just too slow.
I'm too slow as well. My tactic is typically to hit them three times with arrows and then finish with a diamond sword hit. The only time I've taken damage is when I've have a second creeper sneak up behind me and not see him. Sometimes I think they work in teams to pull this little manuver on me

u have a point bout creepers always blowing up on xbox it is very rare for it to not blow up when u back away hopefully even though swords will be nerfed they will hopefully fix the creeper distance blow up thing
Arrows get powered up, yes, but the time it takes to fire an arrow is extended. The way we have it now is that the bow is automatic. Overall, the bow doesn't go up or down in value IMO.
Also, the swords being nerfed is actually better because the diamond sword is overpowered ATM. I think we can block with the swords in the update too, but correct me if I am wrong.
I haven't really had much trouble killing creepers though, 3 arrows and one iron sword hit will kill them right now. When the update comes, I think it is 2 arrows and one iron sword hit to kill them (not sure).
They are going to nerf it because when Enchating comes out, you can enchant your sword to have Sharpness V/IV to super power it up. Add Fire Aspect and Looting and you got a pretty good sword.
It will, in fact, be easier than ever to kill Creepers in the next update. They may be nerfing sword damage but we get this lovely little thing called sprinting. With sprinting, Creepers become a pretty much non existent problem.
Usually use the bow and arrows myself. I noticed when you're in a friends world its harder to kill creepers due to lag (not all the time). I've used iron swords to kill creepers using the wack and back method and seems to work only when I'm hosting the game.

It makes it incredibly easy as long as you're going one on one with a single Creeper. If there are other Creepers or other hostile mobs, it'll still be difficult like before.
That doesn't change anything. I'm saying that if I ever do encounter a creeper.
Like I said, sprinting. When you sprint and hit, it gives a knock back effect. It will push the Creeper you hit up to 4 or 5 blocks away from you. We will also be getting the ability to do Critical Hits in 1.8.2 that will do extra damage when done.
They may be weakening swords, but they are adding in many things to balance it out.
first off got to ask if any of this is actually confirmed, cuase last i read about the update (officially announced by 4j) it said nothing about changes to the weapons. second bows & arrows arnt useless, 5 shots to kill a creeper at the edge of its spawning area. pretty good to me. also ie never had trouble killing creepers at close range, they rarely blow up. if you watch your bottom hud, where it displayes key actions then you hit it the second you can the sword has far more range than its actuall length so you can hit them from pretty far away. then you drop back a few blocks and repeat. worst thing you can do in this situation is spam the sword. thats great for zombies and spiders but not creepers. speed is moot, timing is the most important factor here. also if they are nerfing the sword and buffing the bow then perhaps this is a clue to enchanting being added to the game, as to balance out the weapons. im not sure but i dont think you can enchant bows. so they would need to be buffed so thy would still be a viable weapon. dont qoute me im not entirely sure ner played the pc version before but that seems like the most likely scinerio.

Nope, it's a 1-in-10 chance that you get flint instead of a gravel block both in MC360 and the PC game.

My thoughts exactly.
Makes sense... maybe there's hope for me yet.
