The Xbox 360 edition doesn't quite yet allow as much freedom of creative style as the PC version, but this may or may not be a bad thing. With the "retro" style it's currently in, what kind of home do you enjoy building most?
I've found that I personally favor building towers. It's something about the way they're done and look that meshes well with my creative style. What about you?
I lean towards towers when first starting a world. They go up quickly and I enjoy the look of them when combined with other structures. Besides, no one gets to live in a tower these days and it's kind of romantic. I like castles and keeps, I like building them and towers are a natural fit.

I am a Minecraft tourist. I am currently unavailable under the XBoxLIVE ID listed here but can be found under ZombieL0C0. If you see me online playing Minecraft, send a message and I will gladly take a stroll through your world.
I usually build a good sized square house so that each wall has a definite center. I use the centers of the wall so that I can expand my house when needed. It's kinda hard to describe, but it's very practical and it looks pretty good as well. I find it extremely useful because it's easy to expand whenever I want, and so far I have been expanding it as much as I have been playing. I like this style because it's extremely versatile, and it actually looks nice too.

I like underwater builds, just for the ridiculous impracticality of them. It's maximum effort for minimal reward. I mean, have you ever built a habitat beneath the sea? Look up through an underwater glass ceiling and it could be just sky on the other side for all the visual clues you get. If it wasn't for the odd squid you'd never know you were below the waves. Going to all the trouble to build a house and a garden down there, and fill it with plants and flowers and trees - well you'd better believe the satisfaction of a job well done is going to be worth it.
Here's a challenge for you: find a tundra biome, and build a house under the ice, without ever breaking the ice.
I think I'll accept that challenge. Might take me a few days. I have the perfect spot.

Too easy with doors, signs, torches, reeds, it's almost too easy to make air-pockets in this game
I chose underwater too, while its annoying at first to clear away space for your structure I like the feeling of an underwater house. As long as you keep your bubble lit up you have nothing to worry about from mobs. Plus I like coming into my house via moon pool.

Without the skin... Beneath the storm... Under these tears...The walls came down

i like to build big castles with secret rooms and stuff
I like small islands, far enough away that hostile mobs don't swim there by accident. It's basically one large campsite in the ocean or a large lake, with enough torches so no hostile mobs can spawn. Eventually I will build some sort of building, but usually not before I have enough obsidian to do so.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.
Most of my builds are skyscraper like, with multiple apartments in them, but the structure that I call my home is Cliff style house a la Tony Stark. It's actually the third version of my house that has been in that spot. The first was a half in the hill, half out side house that was just a mess for lack of a better description. Rooms were added here and their without much planing, not very attractive. Number 2 was something of a log cabin style. It was nice but seemed to be missing some distinctiviness. The current version I'm pretty happy with.
I love building medieval areas where a huge castle towers over a village of huts and there's a huge wall surrounding it (I need to learn pistons so I can make a drawbridge) But I also like going really simple and building small log cabins in dense wooded areas.
I do all kinds of things simultaneously - my first real build was an asian-esque donjon with a couple of attached parlors/ verandas. I've done at least three different tudor-style homes in my village. I'm also working on a "Cinderella does BDSM" obsidian castle over a lake of lava in the Nether.
I really like the idea of a hanging house - perhaps mimicing the upsidedown pagoda's at the western air temple in Avatar.
I personally try to build something different in each world i start and each of my friends worlds. At the same time my building skills are not the greatest but I'm getting better.

(f***ing creepers...)
My towers are usually pitfall traps before anything else. I like to continually build upon structures I've already placed.

My god, it's funny you say that, I just got done with doing exactly that. Never again. Never.
