I love creating new worlds and right now I have about 7 worlds going and I have no qualms about restarting another world for the update I am most looking forward to. Worlds are worlds imo and I don't get why people are so attached. I have numerous builds on my worlds and I've deleted other worlds w/numerous builds as well. To me it's no big deal and I don't get why so many people are whining about starting new worlds to be completely honest ALso why are the options in the poll all twisted to the OP's favor? I'm glad other people noticed the terrible choices he/she gave us for this lame ass poll
Lol i love how biased this poll is, two options are different ways of saying the same thing, and the "no" option is also stated in a way that supports the OP's opinions. Lol u suck.\
Anyways, I voted that I wanted my world "half-broken" I understand that people put hard work into their worlds, but frankly, they can bite the big one. I want to be able to check out the new features sooner then later, so there.

I'm one of those players who have gotten "attached" to their world's and I'm really not looking forward to miss out certain features. I'm a Minecraft noob and I'm hoping that my world which is generated in 1.6 BETA will eventually be able to get nether fortresses, stronghold's, the End, End portal's, and villages with actual villager's.
The 1.8 update really has no benefit when trying to make a new world. You only really get mineshaft's (big deal, some caves with wooden planks and rail), stronghold's (with nothing in them), no snow, watermelon seeds, and that's all I can think of. I can easily go in creative and put wooden planks in my caves and seeds. I just hope the world size later on will triple in size or at the least double so that we can generate structures past the boundaries.
Ugh, I can't get over the fact the entire title of the thread is such a huge logical fallacy that it makes my brain hurt. Why buy and xbox 720 when you know another xbox will come out eventually...why buy a 2012 car when a better 2013 will come out...you could say that about anything. Its not about what you can do later...its about what you can do now. You might not even live to see the next update...so why not just play what you have and enjoy it for what it is? If new stuff comes out, you can enjoy that too. Its not like you can't enjoy multiple maps. Its not even like you won't be making new maps as you play, eventually you will get bored of what you see now and want to explore something new. Even if the world was as nearly infinite as the PC one...I started 4 different worlds on PC just to see new stuff. In alpha. Before they added crap I had to restart for.
Why worry over what you will do later on when you haven't even begun to do what you are doing today?
When 1.8 comes out it's going to be awesome and I'll feel remotely closer to the PC version. But there are some flaws that make me not want to start a new map in 1.8 that 4J should fix.
1. First off villages generate but no villagers do, so when 1.2.5 comes you won't have any villagers.
2. Secondly nether fortresses won't be added until 1.2.5 so that means no nether wart in the nether which means no brewing positive potions.
3. Thirdly End portals don't generate in strongholds until 1.2.5 (actually in 1.9 but its being skipped) so when the End is added in the next update you'll have no way to get there.
4. Lastly snow biomes are removed due to technical reasons so you won't get any snow so no snow golems or whatever not that big a deal for the last one.
Also chests don't generate in strongholds so you won't get loot like diamonds and strongholds are just empty shells with no purpose.
The only fix that I see around this is that they add the new nether generation features which includes new blocks like nether brick and nether wart (which requires a new growing mechanic), new blaze mobs and blaze spawners (this would take more time), they would also have to add villagers, add in snow biomes early, add chests in strongholds (which would be simple) and lastly they would have to add an End portal they could probably half code it and finish the rest of the code in the next update.
If they did all this you wouldn't have to start a new world when 1.2.5 rolls around, and to be honest I'd rather wait a bit longer just get these features then to have a half broken map.
Don't believe me on this? check the wiki version history, this happened with PC but it was easy to get around because all you had to do was go farther away from your area, but since Xbox doesn't have infinite worlds we can't do that.
If you support this someone let 4J know
Also for those of you who don't know 4J will be updating to 1.8 then to 1.2.5 (check their twitter), and as you know it takes a while between updates, so lets not have a half broken map while we wait for the next update and then just have to delete it again.
And sorry if my post seems a bit whiny or like I'm complaining too much I'm really tired right now and my writing isn't at its best.
BTW The different colours represent the topic So red for nether, brown for villages, grey for snow biomes, blue for Stronghold chests and diamonds and green is important details that you shouldn't miss. So just in case you were wondering "what's with all the colours?"
Edit: Obviously there has been some confusion. I want to clearly state that I am only referring to these 3 map breaking features which I know were added later which is why I'm requesting they be added early so we don't end up with a broken world.
Any other terrain features after that are not map breaking because there are more ways to acquire the resources they include. So just to be 100% clear only these 3.
1. I can spawn them in villages in Creative Mode.
2. I can get Nether Wart in Creative.
3. I can make an End Portal and go in the End in Creative.
4. Snow blocks... in Creative.
I don't care if I have to start a new world to get all these features, it won't stop me from playing in them.
P.S. Sorry for the long reply.

the reply wouldnt be so long if you realized how unnecessary and obnoxious it is to click reply to the original post.
the entire trouble with the premise then is we should wait for the next one because they change it again then the next and the next and the next, so no just roll a new map when you see features you want or when you fancy a change or anything, but definitely not just because there's another change coming or you would be waiting a good long while

Currently wrong there should be no new map additions after 1.2.3

The meaning of life, secrets of the universe, spiritual enlightenment, just ask...
Why not just increase the map size a small amount, and make spawning villages and stuff more frequent in those extra blocks that the map has been expanded by.
Just go into creative , make a village spawn some villagers , plant some swamp and jungle trees and just get some nether wart from creative , Btw the world expansions they are working on might generate new areas as well
Personally I don't know why they didn't release the game until it was at the current level on the PC anyway (if that really is the plan). It's not as though they didn't have the programming template to do so. They already had most of the features in place on the PC when they released it for the Xbox. I'd love to know what the reasoning was behind releasing the "bare-bones" version of MC when they could have done it properly right out of the starting gate.
Hell, if it would have cost me an extra $20 above the current price, I would have still bought the game if it was the fully updated version. This whole "step backward, move forward" mentality in this release boggles my mind.
they did this to generate revenue and test the boundries of what the xbox can handle, remember they are a company, it takes money to release a game and to keep a company running, so i imagine they wanted to test the waters see how the game faired on the xbox and in the console market in general before putting to much time and money into it. plus this will never be the same game as the pc version, there are to many limitations on the xbox. but they continue to combine updates trying to bring as many features to the xbox update ahead of the time they were updated on the pc.
No reason those minor tweaks shouldnt be ported forward.
Says you. How about the fact that they aren't in 1.2.3? That is a good reason not to have them in the 1.2.3 update. They have no reason to bring all the stuff from 1.3 into 1.2.3 when there will be many new things from 1.8.2-1.2.3.
I think that the use of the word "Broken" is perhaps out of place here. This implies that your map isn't going to function when 4J takes us to 1.2 and beyond which I highly doubt will be the case. Pretty much all of the problems you've pointed out can be worked around one way or another. Just a small (relatively speaking) increase in map size could provide a solution to most of them. I know 4J has stated that it isn't going to happen with the 1.8 update but they have eluded to it coming in the future.

This is how I look at it: (the car analogy works, but there's an aspect you left out)
You buy a 2012 car (lets say a Camaro, I like Camaros). Only, in 2012, the Camaro was only available with a V6, and in 3 boring colors.
But you really want one, so you buy it. You buy an aftermarket stereo, cool wheels, custom exhaust, window tint, maybe a supercharger or turbo setup (the point being, you invest a LOT of time and money making it "yours").
Then, the 2013 Camaro comes out. It has a V8 now, and is available in 6 more COOL colors.
Do you keep what you've got, maybe drop in a new 2013-equivalent engine and paint it one of the new colors (make strongholds and mineshafts in your current world) or do you give up all of your customization and but the 2013, only to HAVE to start over "making it your own".
Now, wouldn't it be nice of you could, say... Just "swap" the engines, but keep the other mods you did (my suggested process of clearing an re-generating portions of the map).
A few days ago I had come to terms with starting a new map, and certainly would have done it for each update, but then I realized I would have creative. With it I'll have access to all future features, no?
However, I voted for a half broken world... mostly to spite the extremely biased OP.

Just my 2 cents.

1.3.1 changed some biome stuff again actually
