So you lost a dog after dying? How'd you die...falling off a cliff or being attacked by a monster? Your dog might've died with you, but the other got away. I also had a friend lose their dog, and the dog didn't even die. It just suddenly ceased to exist when he turned around. Either case, they spawn randomly and you'll find a big wolf pack one of these days...
Also, play the game with a difficulty on, wait overnight, and when daylight approaches scout around and harvest the dropped feathers, bones, and arrows from burned monsters. Free bones!
p.s I can back up halo3glitchaustin. It once took me over 15 bones to tame a wolf. I was pissed
I rarely see them on my map too. In fact in all the time playing have only come across 2, although I spend most of my time on the edge of a forest so take that for what it is.
I did get lucky once I found them as it only took one bone for the first wolf and two for the second to tame them. I guess it is true that good things happen to those that wait.
Make a trap, iget over 2 stacks of bones in less than twenty minutes using this trap I saw someone use that is 82x32 with water ways moving the mobs to a drop where I kill them with one hit of my hand, it works great. This is my killing room
