Capture the Flag was a planned game-mode for the PC edition. It is NOT yet released
but it will be released on the Xbox Edition BEFORE the PC or Pocket Editions.
So does this mean that the "Capture the Flag" game mode might be added in the next update?

I would doubt it would be in the 1.8.2 update, especially since there has been no recent mention of it. 1.8.2 is a big enough update as it is, no need to make it longer by adding more stuff to it, especially since they are already considering bringing stuff from other updates also. Though I don't think it will happen, it could be part of the 1.2.3 update, as that should be a smaller update, especially if they do pull things forward for the next update.
While this idea remains a most wanted type of thing and really creative game mode,
4J will probably throw it in their "Things the fans want" pile. They already know what
they're doing, they don't really need any more suggestions.
The minecraft wiki tends to be an extremely unreliable source of information when it comes to future updates, as it has been in the past. Don't count on it for anything regarding future updates.
Minecraft forum tends to be dead wrong most of the time about things like this. None the less CTF would be so awesome. I would build a replica 2fort map from team fortress 2 , it would be the best minecraft pvp'ing ever.
CTF can be kind of made in vanilla, but its unreliable at best. People tend to use wool as the flag, which is fine, until the flag carrier dies in fire or lava and the flag burns up. There is also no way to know when your flag is gone or where your flag is. They dont need a game type, just some specific blocks with unique properties.

It would be online play, so of course it requires gold.
CTF could come in a future update, just not the 1.8 update. 4J can add things to the xbox that aren't on the PC version.
I would play that mode a lot with my friends.
I don't really see any bad things with the idea. I mean, it is a ENTIRE new game mode for Minecraft.
Maybe free-for-all, sabotoge type of game....
