One of my secure locations has a secret hole where you jump & throw an item, it falls a few layers, and then the water water source pushes it to a pressure plate inside the base. Anything will open it, but you have to know where the hole is hidden (far away from the entrance).
My restaurant "The Amazing Flying Cake" has a series of dispensers that shoot into a water delivery system. Why? Because I could.
I did build an inverse-spiral waterfall (flowing uphill) using half-slabs and signs, but it only seems to work on mobs, not on items. It's being converted to an interactive fountain, and I might adjust the design to use in a slime transportation system.
I would love to hear more ideas on moving items uphill or long distances. (Can we mine ice?)
This topic gave me an idea for a build. Forgive me if I'm repeating anything already mentioned or thought about.
You could have a main line kinda short on your base level. Build in layers ,your resource grinders, above the main line. The items would fall from the grinder or dispenser system down into the main line. You could have pistons that would open each hole above the main line or what have you.
Hell, if you're good with pistons and wiring you could make it so that certain pistons change the path of the main line depending on what location you want the item to go to.
It might be good to have an "Equip" button on the wall that triggers a dozen dispensers that all throw stuff in the water. You stand at the end of the water and receive all the equipment.

Retired StaffI already said that. Items don't group like that for another 5 or 6 updates. (On PC anyway.)
