According to https://twitter.com/...471438399733760 after the 1.8.2 update they'll be jumping to 1.2.3. Does anyone know if this will take the standard 2 months that updates have been taking? Or is it gonna be much longer considering the amount of content?

I have no Idea. I havent even heard of them jumping that far(not saying your lying or anything).
I hadn't either until I read that tweet, but it's their legit twitter so it IS true. That was a few months ago so they may have changed their plans.

You would think it's a lot of content, but it's not. There is more in the 1.8.2 update than there will be in the 1.2.3 update. How long it takes to do them isn't really much of a factor anyways. Microsoft apparently has an update schedule in place so that Title Updates can only be released every other month. That means if 1.8.2 comes out in September, we won't be seeing 1.2.3 until November. Even if it's finished earlier than that.
No one knows how long it will take. As for the "standard 2 months" we don't even know if this is true, or if we will even get 1.8.2 within that timeframe. 1.2.3 should be quicker to finish though. Whether they do have to hold off on releasing it or not because of Microsoft, that is another topic for another time.

I know the drill with how the updates are handled, I was just under the impression that it might take longer than a couple months due to the amount of content.
Nice Avatar by the way (pun intended)

1.2.3 shouldn't take that long. 1.8.2 is a major update where terrain generation will be totally changed, a new mob will be added, along with new blocks. 1.2.3 added in enchanting and breeding, which doesn't change the entire game like 1.8.2 does.
Does anyone know if upside down stairs, fence gates, and torches being able to be placed on fences are 1.8? Because that's the only features I want. I can wait for all the others.

Upside down stairs were added later. Fence gates will be in the next update. As for putting torches on fences, we should have that now, at least according to the wiki.

Well I've been trying since the game came out, and you can't.
I heard that since the coding is different, this update will be quicker.
But nobody should be really worried about this, 1.8 will keep us occupied
untill then.
