Yet another thread regarding world size limits.... except i'd actually prefer nobody discussed alternate options or whatever, but just vote and move on because im honestly pretty tired of seeing world size limit discussions.
Edit: To the point, I was looking in a thread about halting the 1.8 update and focusing on increasing world size and a few people suggested making a poll for removing/nerfing splitscreen in order to have larger worlds and i havent seen one yet, so here it is.
Splitscreen has almost nothing to do with world size and I was unaware of this until after making the post
Only times I play split-screen is when playing with my wife, so having split-screen limited to only two players in favor of a (slightly) larger world would be perfect for me. But that's really just me. I guess there are enough people who play 3- or 4-player split-screen a lot.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.
I dont really care if they take out split srceen in order to have larger worlds. I just want infinite world generation.
that will never happen. <<quote me on that if you ever want to<< Technically, it never even happened on PC and it's kind of irritating when people call it infinite world generation because it's not, it's just so big it may as well be infinite. I guess it's just a pet peeve but if people that couldn't help but call it infinite just put the word infinite in quotations ("inifinite" worlds) it would fix everything.
but PC has as much space for a save file as your hard drive can muster, while xbox's are limited to i believe 52MB, a good chunk of which is dedicated to splitscreen. Even if we're granted more space to use for save files, it still will never ever ever ever ever EVER EVER EVER touch anywhere near 32,000,000x32,000,000 blocks.
Split screen is cool and all. But wheres the fun in just that? Im guessing most people play online, just like in the regular minecraft. I also dont see why they cant make larger worlds. You ever play castleminer z? That world is f***ing huge. And it's only an indie game!
It's a myth that removing or reducing split screen would allow them to increase world size.
In fact, there's several myths going on about world size.
While some of us would love infinite worlds- cause they're like RVing nomads that enjoy wandering around gawking at the scenery or worried about running out of resources (they won't). Some don't mind the world size as it is- it's "plenty big enough" and consider the "smaller" world size part of the challenge.
When it comes to world size, we don't know jack cause 4J hasn't really told us the real why. This forum is full of pure speculation. For all we know, we could have infinite worlds, but not minecraft as we know it, because they'd have to take out a bunch of stuff to accommodate it (again, that's speculation.)
Here's a FACT we do know: the xbox isn't a PC.
If MC was written for, and was originally, an xbox game, converting it to run on the PC would be falling-off-a-log easy, and we wouldn't be having these conversations. But it wasn't. When developers write multi-platform games they design it from the get-go so it will run on the lowest common denominator and that way all the platforms can handle it. I'm sure 4J is doing the best they can, considering. It's always a problem trying to reverse engineer a program to another system.

4J have already stated that removing splitscreen would have little or no effect on their ability or inability to increase world size. The poll, therefore, asks a moot question.

Well it's too late now, and in every other discussion i've seen on this nobody ever bothered bringing that up, my apologies.

No worries. I'm sure it was brought up and I read the post made by 4J Steve somewhere here on this forum. However, threads do tend to get buried deep when they fall off the front page.
I think its nice that it doesn't have to come down to such a choice. I personally really like the local splitscreen feature.
There has a lot of speculation as to why 4J is not increasing world size on this particular update; but from what I can tell the reasons are just that - pure speculation. Of course, 4J, knows the real reason; but they're not saying. It could just be that they don't have the time to redraft the update to accommodate a larger world size unless they delay release of the update even more than they have already. I am anticipating that, since it's obviously a much desired feature, there will be some sort of increase in world size soon - just not in this very next update.

I'm leaving the poll though, for the hell of it.
