Depending on what friend is hosting the game. I have hosted a world with 8 players everyone playing fine but also played in a friends world with only 4 players and weird things happen. I'm all for the increase of players allowed but me personally 8 players doesn't happen often for me (friends in different time zones and what not) nor not having room for someone to join.

Yeah, but considering how many people want open servers... I mean, if anyone can enter the world, not just your friends, then that space will fill up pretty fast.
I know open servers brings up a whole other issue, and I don't want to start that. Just pointing it out.
In my opinion, on the XBOX 360 gaming console, anything more than 8 players would cause the following to appear:
Server lag, blocks not getting destroyed or disappearing altogether
If everyone has a mic, it gets difficult to chat over one another, and its even harder if you are not in a party (going into party chat doesn't lag the game as much)
In relation to a computer, the XBOX doesn't have as much memory depth as say a graphics intensive gaming computer.
I don't know why they won't make it any higher. If it causes lag, then that's my problem. It would not affect anyone who does not want many players in their game.

That is assuming you would be able to set a max number of people you can let into your world. If people don't want to play with 16 people, but they can't limit it to 8 that would cause a lot of problems, and complaining(assuming you can't limit it now, I don't know because I don't play online. If you can, then disregard this). And on the topic of complaining, you just know if they raised it that people would be coming here complaining about how laggy it is with so many people and how 4J shouldn't have raised it if they couldn't make it work perfectly (even if most of the problem might be people's internet connection).

That is why there is the kicking option; if you do not want extra players in your game, then there is an option to ban them from the game until it is restarted. I do not blame you for your ignorance because of your current circumstances, but that also means this is not a very appropriate thread for you to be in.

That still wouldn't solve the problem. Let's say you have a popular server. Say you have 50 people that play on it. If you are going to have to ban every person above the 8th player slot everytime you start up your map, then that is just a waste of time and effort.

So same example as above, why should people who want to play with no lag have to send out 50 invites each time they play, just to keep replacing people that leave. You can't really do this either if you are trying to keep a 24/7 server up when you can't check on it all the time and add people if others have left.
Not sure exactly why. But they should make it so you can atleast have 18 - 24 players. All they need is something to limit the amount of players you can host based on your bandwidth so you don't host laggy games with too many people for your connection.
The Xbox 360 was made with an ATI Radeon x1800 GPU and Only 512MB of RAM.(This is why the graphics are notably worse) You guys are lucky you can play minecraft on your console (Thats unfortunate for PS3 players, only 256mb RAM). Its the Issue of being able to support the amount of people making changes to the world all at once. If you want more players, your best bet is to just go PC.

Does it really look noticeably worse? It is a retro game graphic art style, can't really be that much different between "bad" and "good".
