By the way, its not a memory issue in the slightest. The problem is Microsoft is pretty adamant about the size limit of Indy Arcade titles (Amount of the HDD they take up).
The next update includes strongholds mooshroom islands nether fortresses and don't forget npc villages .its gonna be dam near impossible for u to see all of these in a single map given the size , unlike how PC version generates practically infinitely. So unless 4j codes it in so that each map generates with all of it its really gonna make it hard to have a good experience in a single map
No nether fortress=no nether warts for potions
No stronghold =no end portal to fight boss
no mushroom island = no mycelium or mooshroom cows
No npc villages= forget the possibility of trading or having villagers period
I suggest asking 4j over twitter on how they plan to overcome this.the more the people ask the more likely we can get a response. This is extremely important. U may not realize it but everyone of these are key fundementals that make the game great.. what do u think will happen. Personally I hope they are smart enough to code it in so new maps generate with it all.. just hopes in the end
They have already announced that there will be no changes to world size for this particular update. The update is already well into development and still 4J has also announced that they have many weeks of works left to do. IF they suddenly decide to change the update to add in infinite worlds, then I hope you realize that will likely delay the update by several more weeks.

So, what precisely is this limit? Do you have a current source for this info?
I've been looking for this online and so far have only found a reference to a limit on the size of the game download file, which was originally 50 MB and is now up to 2 GB (per Wikipedia article on XBox Live Arcade). The article says the 2 GB limit is a technical limitation of the system itself, not a limit Microsoft has arbitrarily set. There is no mention of a limit on saved game file size in the article.
"The original size limit imposed by Microsoft for Xbox Live Arcade games was 50MB, in order to ensure any downloaded game could fit on a 64MB Xbox memory unit. The limit has since been changed to 150 MB, then 350 MB, and now 2 GB, the latter of which is a technical limitation of the system (rather than an arbitrary limit imposed by Microsoft)."
Corrections to numbers made ETA (while sitting in front of my XBox): My main Minecraft program file is around 114 MB (well below 2 GB). There is also a Saved Info file at about 168 KB, and at Tutorial World file at 18 MB. I thought there should also be a New World program file owned by "Player 1", but I don't see that now on my drive (it might have been accidentally deleted - Yikes, hopefully won't affect future new world files form being created). Anyway, I also have my own saved world files - 1 primary at 16 MB, 4 files for my experiment on terrain generations ranging from 4 MB to 17 MB depending on how much of the map has been filled in, 1 tutorial world at 18 MB, and 1 other new world at 9 MB. I realize that some people have larger saved game files (one person mentioned one in the order of 250 MB). However, it's still all well below the 2 GB mentioned for Live Arcade. I'm not still not convinced this is the issue some people are making it out to be.
The 2GB limit is the maximum size allowed for anything downloaded over Xbox Live. That is not the save file size restriction mentioned above. This 2GB limit also applies to all DLC.

I understand that - so, if a limit on saved game file size exists, then what is it currently? Is it low enough to actually be an issue, or are just people speculating that it's an issue?... or are people just confusing a download limit with a saved game file limit?
The other file I see that might have a limit is the Save Data file (which is not a world saved game file). This file does seem to ever growing (by quite a bit since I first started playing Minecraft). So is the issue perhaps that it never overwrites any of the data saved to it, but rather just appends data onto it (therefore, needing a large amount of future reserved space on the hard drive)?
