I presonally just think most of the achievements are stupid for this game. I wish the achievements really had something to do with the game. What the heck does saddling a pig accomplish? It would have been nice if the achievements dealt more with mining, hence the name of the game.
Easy achievements should have been like:
- mine to bedrock.
- reach cloud level
- etc
Harder acheivements should have been:
- Chop down 1000 trees
- Mine 50,000 smooth stone
- Mine 200 diamonds
- Mine 400 gold
- etc
I love playing 360 because of the acheivements. But this game really ignored the word "achievement" .....ooooo i opened a chest. yay acheivement points. LOL. Don't get me wrong though, I love minecraft and there really isn't much about it that i complain about but the achievements could have had more thought put into them.

I would have liked some harder achievements, but keep in mind a couple we have could have been hard for some people. Like taming 5 wolves. The pig one could have been hard also(like it was for me). You have to find a saddle, and if you didn't know a seed with one at the start, that could be hard. Then you had to find a pig, and hope you get the achievement without killing the pig, or you lose the saddle. It was hard for me because I had the bug where I would always restart at original spawn with no items in my inventory. So If I messed up, I couldn't save and restart, I would have to start a whole new world to try again.

Taming the 5 wolves is pretty easy. Anyone who plays the game will eventually get it. You don't need to have 5 tamed at the same time, just your profile needs to have tamed 5 wolves. The pig one was easy for me thankfully, maybe i just got lucky. Only took 2 attempts. 1st attempt i had no idea the pig was going to spaz out once i sat on it. But again, what did saddling a pig and hurting it have anything to do with the game itself?
The "On a Rail" achievement is the only one I don't have, because I refuse to string 500 metres of track across my world for no reason. If it so happens that in the future I need a 500 metre long track which only runs in one direction, then so be it, but I'm not wasting the iron any time soon just to get 40G.
. . .
What I did there was temporarily hook up 2 unrelated sections of track. One went from my beachside buildings to a small brick house inland, and the other went the length of a long underground trench, from East to West. Hooking them up gave me just a little more distance than I needed. Be aware that it's possible the achievement won't click the first time you go the length of the track. I don't know why, but the first time I traveled across, no dice. Then I went the other way, and it unlocked.
I just baked bread, and got 20 points for it. Now that was way easy.
But again, what did saddling a pig and hurting it have anything to do with the game itself?
You mean, like it being a pointless thing to do? If so, then you must not play a lot of Xbox 360 games, or you complain about a lot of achievements, because pretty much every game has achievments that have nothing to do with the game itself. In fact, I just got one yesterday for another game that required jumping off of 3 different balconies into water. It has nothing to do with the game, but it was an achievement.

I hate to admit but yeah I play a lot of xbox. Sitting around 31k achievement points at the moment. I own a PS3 and 360, only use PS3 for the Blue Ray and Netflix, all my games are 360 and the only reason is because of the achievements. They give me other satisfaction and something to strive for when i play a game.
Trust me, I know other games have stupid achievements that don't pertain to the game much but those games also most likely have 1000+ achievement points to get. Mincecraft only has 400 points you can get. If you only have 400 points to spread out put some more thought into the limited achievements you can put in the game. I am not trying to souns like I am complaining just pointing out my opinions on it. I love MInecraft and I still play it even though i already have the 400 points.
It's just a fun achievement.. What do you have against fun achievements? DO YOU HATE FUN? WHY DO YOU PLAY GAMES IF YOU HATE FUN SO MUCH??
Seriously though lol its like the achievement for half life in the orange box, where you carry the gnome with you throughout the entire game and launch it in the rocket at the end, it's just something fun to do. Personally, I prefer achievements that pull you away from the main purpose of the game, especially fun ones. Achievements that you basically can't escape getting (i.e. story-related ones, ones for PRESSING ONE BUTTON TO OPEN YOUR INVENTORY, ya know.. stupid stuff) are redundant because it's like okay... i was going to do that anyway, what's the point? i think achievements should be designed to make games more fun and challenge people to do things out of the ordinary and away from the story or main purpose of the game.
I hate to get involved with this debate but........ Has this subject already been discussed???? Maybe the pocket version (just got zombies and bread) is more relevent...... Already many non PC perks are available IMO.... A Tutorial world comes to mind....... Crafting ETC.... Oh And achievements (no matter how easy) actually count.... You get the same ones over and over for every new map on the PC version.... Getting Wood was funny the first 5 no 10 times.......... Anyone play the Simpsons and press Start.... Avatar?????? STFU and ride a pig
Who cares about achievements? It doesnt make the game any better or worse....
Absolutely true, thank you!
I really don't understand all this fuzz about achievements in Minecraft. Everything you get an achievement for in MC360 is something you do sooner or later anyway. So why give a damn about whether it's easy or not?

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.
the only achievement which frustrated me a bit was the saddling a pig, not particularly "difficult", just a bit too time consuming for an impatient bugger like me. I ended up coralling the pig and just digging a hole, and then waiting for it to actually walk down the hole, which was the most annoying part.
The "On a Rail" achievement is the only one I don't have, because I refuse to string 500 metres of track across my world for no reason. Considering the bulk of the achievements are a matter of simple progress, I'd say they are not necessarily too easy, but rather something between utterly pointless and mildly annoying.
I get using materials for on a rail aceviment is annoying but u can use its to send ur friends far away into lava as a joke and they get get their stuff so it ain't a waste
1. Go build a giant castle complete with its own town (which includes shops, strip clubs, pubs, the whole shabang)
2. Mine your whole world so that bedrock is the surface
3. Build a mansion out of gold blocks and call it Thug Mansion
4. Play minecraft without craving achievement points
Yeah some of them seem pointless. Case in point, the infamous inventory achievement, I almost felt like i was being pandered to. "Really? I got an achievement for looking at the things I have? ooookay.." Also I felt it was kinda overkill to get an achievement for making each tool, why not one for all of them?
The only achievement I haven't gotten is When pigs fly, because I'm impatient and end up killing porky before he does his best impression of a stock-broker during the great depression.
All in all I think it's a pretty minor thing to find annoyance with, I guess people just want a greater challenge and I can't blame them for that, but just make up your own achievements to do. You don't get points, but the sense of accomplishment would be worth it I'm sure.
We should start a custom achievements thread! Here's one to get started!
100 the hard way- Start a world on hard difficulty, this achievement is unlocked by having 100 glowstone in your inventory without having lowered the difficulty.
I think the easy achievements are so that people play it like a sandbox game (AKA the way it's supposed to be played) rather than only going for achievements.
because you would get them just by downloading the dlc... Who cares about achievements? It doesnt make the game any better or worse....
the whole purpose of achievements is to make games better and keep people playing, otherwise nobody would've ever bothered making an achievement system in the first place. If you don't care about achievements i dont understand why you bothered posting in this thread.

People like you really grind my gears. "Who cares about achievements?" Obviously that is a stupid question for one. If you read through this topic your answer is right there. Want me to name the people for you that seem to care about achievements?
Anyway there is this thing called diversity. Maybe you are too young to understand the definition of that word. Human brains are very diverse from one person to the next. I like Brussle Sprouts bet a lot of people don't. - diversity. I like scratching my back with an envelope opener bet a lot of people don't - diversity. Asian people prefer asina cuisine but some asians don't. Southern people like southern food, some southerners prefer mexican food. I can go on and on with these.
People are all different, if you got out of your mama's basement you would understand. If I want to enjoy achievments in a game I can and I dont need people like you questioning why me and others enjoy it. If you don't like achievments why did you even click on this topic. I will use the word again. This forum is really "diverse", there are hundreds of topics you can choose to read and post in. So GTFO.
Personally, I like the idea of achievements, and apparently so do many others, since it's been copied across multiple platforms now. Whether a particular game has good or bad achievements is a different matter. I don't chase them, but I do enjoy unlocking the fun ones.
The inventory achievement is just a joke. I lol'd anyway. No need to get serious about it. It did bother me that I needed to make tools out of wood for a couple of them. I missed those for weeks because I used stone or better all along on those tools. But see, that just shows my attitude here. I don't even look up the list of achievements. Running into the MC list was just a happenstance. I'd rather be surprised when one unlocks.
