There is sometimes a little issue (don't know if it's a bug), where i am building onto my sky villa, and i often press the Sneak button and somehow still happen to fall (only after being on the edge approximately 10 seconds.)
I've also noticed with repeaters you can actually walk on them and they raise you very slightly. If you're crouching and walk onto one, or off of one, while on the very edge of the blocks, you will fall. I assume it works the same way with other things that form a layer on top of blocks, except redstone dust. Perhaps this also happens with snow?

My friend's kids used to use sneak a lot. They loved it. Then suddenly, right after the August bug fix update, they started indicating that they don't trust sneak anymore because they had started to fall off edges a lot. Since the August bug fix update attempted to deal with piston issues affecting things like zipper elevators, I think they (meaning 4J) may have introduced a new bug in the sneak mode with that update.
Is this supposed to happen?
