I've been lurking through these forums since purchasing the game several weeks ago and haven't seen anyone post about this so I thought I would.
The search engine BING has a promotion going atm that makes the cheapskate in me happy. if you go to their site and sign up for their rewards program, you can earn microsoft points. 100 mp costs 125 bing points, 400mp are 500 bing points. They have other rewards available, but I plan on using them for the skin packs and any other dlc that minecraft comes out with. You get points by doing searches. That's it. There are other ways to get points, but the easiest way is to use their search engine. One bing point for every unique search,
After 10 days, I've already gotten 200 microsoft points just by searching for minecraft videos through their engine about three hours a day. You can sign up through either your facebook or windows live account. I know it's "the man" collecting data, but these days you almost can't surf the net without leaving some trace somewhere.
been using this for months now. i'm sure to some people it sounds like some sort of internet scam, but it really does work. i've got...man, i don't even know. 400 microsoft points around 10 times probably.
bing as a search engine isn't even CLOSE to as good as google, but just using bing in your average daily internet usage you'll get enough for some microsoft points in no time.

Below is a referral link for me to get bing points if you sign up:
http://go.microsoft....58-eb27cbf50031
If you don't want to click that link, you can just point your browser to bing.com and check it out yourself.
