I wouldn't hold my breathe waiting for the Xbox version catching up to the PC version. I have personally had nothing but disappointment when it comes to PC ports to consoles.
I still don't really understand why they ported the beta version in the first place. Would have made so much more sense to have ported a more recent version in the first place.
Sorry but did you even read any of the posts before yours?
Also, I'm not even sure about this cause I'm a huge noob but I'm assuming they started creating the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft when the PC version of Minecraft was still in beta. This is assuming from all the posts I've read implying that this game was basically built from scratch which means it's not a port.
I might be wrong, but i thought i read some where that our xbox version wasnt getting EVERYTHING the pc version has due to the limitations of the xbox!?
At the speed 4j studios is pumping out updates, we will catch up to the pc minecraft in no time at all. Which brings me to one question: what happens when xbox catches up to pc, what then?
they would probably then work on some xbox exclusive stuffs
Wouldn't they just raise the base price to the computer version? Does microsoft have so much control that 4J can't control the prices and updates?
You think microsoft would do something because with the cash flow of people buying it (average 17,000 a day) is rather important.

The reason they started at 1.6.6 is because that was the most stable version at the time when they started working on the game.

There will be certain things we won't get(like infinite worlds), but there are also some things we won't get because the code is PC specific(like in 1.3 with the merging of single player and multiplayer, we already have something like that). Besides that, I can't really think of any features we wouldn't be able to get.
Once 4J Studios run out of the 'free updates' that Mojang agreed with Micro$oft I am expecting development on Xbox minecraft to stop.
The only other option then would be to charge people for the updates and you can imagine how the forum would go into meltdown if that was announced. So I'm expecting 3-4 more updates then it will stop.
I doubt they would stop just because they are out of free updates. They have already stated updates will not cost money, don't expect that to change. It isn't like they are going to be the first company that actually has to pay for updates. And to be fair, we don't know how many free updates they get. They could have 10 more, or they could be out already because of the bug fix updates. I am sure they get enough extra money from the skin packs and will with future DLC.

I wouldn't expect them to raise the price. 1600 is the max for XLBA games(don't know if that is a hard limit or not, but it is the highest any game has sold for).

You would be suprised how much the xbox can really do.

You basically just proved my point... the Xbox 360 version was first announced at E3 in June 2011, 5 months before November. And had probably been working on it for months before that too. Probably started work on it not long after the beta version on PC was released. /shrug
Xbox MC is going to be nothing but a port of the PC version. If 4J DOES manage to fully update to current pc version, they will have to wait for the pc to update, then they have to port that update. Xbox mc isn't getting anything special.
It isn't a port! I don't understand why people say this,
Mojang gave 4J all rights to the xbox version, they could make
it a freaking racing game if they wanted to.

Which also means, that between that time and official release was a 6 month period. I realize the amount of work involved, all I suggested was It could have been introduced with a more recent version.
No need to take it personal.

How I am I taking it personally?
And nah, I mean, that's like asking game companies to release games with the latest advancements in video game technology which is simply not gonna happen. Most video games are released with what was 'new' 2-3 years ago. I don't see how 4J could have released anything more recent without pushing the release date of the game. Just doesn't make sense, sorry.
after catching up they will add capture the flag, mods and texture packs....im pretty sure notch said xbox will get capture the flag first
Notch isn't in charge of the 360 version, 4J has all rights to it.
Jeb runs minecraft now, not notch. And they said after 1.8 they might
talk about adding texture packs and stuff.
They need the actual code before they can copy it. While they could work on the snapshot code, it isn't code we would end up with, so they might as well wait until the code with the least amount of problems is available to them, which would be the official release code.
You do realize thatt its not a copy of code. The Pc and XBOX versions are written in 2 different codes

That is my whole point of the post. If it ran on the same code then we wouldn't be behind. What I meant by copy was convert it to C++. My point was they should wait until the official code is release before converting it, so it will have the least amount of bugs.
Minecraft XBLA is a port of the PC version whether you’d like to think it isn’t or not. This can be proven by the fact that the XBLA version has been running into the same terrain generation problems (clay) that the PC release had at certain points of it's development. They haven’t just started this game from scratch like a lot of people on here seem to think. I thought the same until someone pointed out to me it has the same bugs the pc version had at certain points of its development. It's not like they are adding these bugs for authenticity or something, the bugs are there because the pc version had them and that’s what they are porting it from.
As for this, it isn't technically a direct port: "We are working with Daniel Kaplan at Mojang to define what is going in to the Xbox version, but the aim is to include as many of the PC features that make sense on the Xbox as possible. The game isn't Minecraft on the Xbox, it is Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, so it isn't really a direct port of the PC game." http://kotaku.com/59...icult-18-update

Yeah, alot of it is ported from the PC version, but not all of it.
Just because it has the same bugs and problems dosen't mean they
are going to make everything exactly like the PC.
What i'm saying is that there are people who complain
about MC360 saying it's nothing but an outdated port
of the PC game. There's alot more to it than that.
wasnt that before release? before we all noticed they were just "copying" pc code? ( yes i know its a diff type of code tomato tomato)... imo it was a marketing ploy and a good excuse to not have to include everything if they didnt want to
What was said is still true. We have stuff the PC version doesn't have, and they have stuff we don't have. It isn't the exact same game.
