I think they should make their own texture packs or one. It's a different game so we should get different texture packs, not ones from the PC. If they get around to making them, they should probably release them in packs of 3 or 4 maybe. I'd be willing to pay up to about 400 msp for a pack of textures.
(I think everyone should remember, Texture Packs would require more work than skins because they would have to be updated every time something new was added to the game unlike skins. This leads me to believe they won't use PC texture packs because what if the texture packs they pick stop getting update? Or what if they don't update right away when a new update comes out? I don't think people would be happy about that judging by how they react to other things on here.)
I would never pay for a skin pack - seems like a complete waste of money for me even at just a few bucks. I woudl happily (and in a New York minute) drop 800MsP for a good texture pack, especially one that included something like dokucraft.
I also agree with M_G. 4J should do their own textures so as to not be reliant on external sources.

Something tells me if they were to add texture packs, they'd include textures to items that we don't have yet.
Kind of like how there are items like Magma cream in the game. 4J should already know what items will be added, as they've only stated that the Xbox Edition will be pulled to 1.2.3. (I think that's the correct version), and we're a full year behind the PC. Could be pushed into later versions but 4J has only officially announced up to 1.2.3.
So they pretty much have an idea of what all the items will include, yes?

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
My kids like the skin packs. Seems like they change them on an hourly basis. Personally I don't have much use for them since I'm generally not looking at myself when I'm playing.
Texture packs however I'll happily drop a few dollars for. Some of the ones out for the PC are pretty sweet and I'd love to see a few of them available for the Xbox.
All i know is im not buying skin pack 2,The skin packs are seriously lame...And microsoft is just getting us to pay to promote other games...the promotional skins should be free and i think 4j should be making their own skins...
these skins packs are from 4J so I don't know what else do you expect? This game is on the Xbox so of course they going to be releasing skins from Xbox/Microsoft title games. on topic I hope 4J do create their own texture pack because that way they could update it quick but I already like some of the ones already created by users so I will just wait and see how they will handle it.
Even if they are orginal 4J texture packs I'll stil be happy. I would imagine that they will take some inspiration for the fanbase ones. BTW I agree that they will are going to charge for them. Sorry if my last point was unclear on that. It takes time to make these things, time costs money, they have to recoop that somehow. So I'm fine with paying.

I just want one that makes different tiers of tools look different, for example, a wooden sword would be a sharp stick lookin' thing and the iron sword would look like the sword from Maximo. The stone pickaxe looks similar to what it is now, and the diamond pck would look like a double-headed drill. Same thing with the armors.

They have told us their current update schedule will go from 1.8.2 to 1.2.3. They have stated that they will update beyond that though, we just don't know what the next update version will be. Depending on when the texture packs come out, and how far they do plan to update the version to, they may have to go back and add more texture updates. Like with 1.4, new items have been added that we definitely don't have in the XBLA files. If they did release texture packs soon after 1.8.2, they would have to update them when they add new items.
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens..
If we do get texture packs(and I do mean if). They will most likely be themed after other Xbox franchises like Halo, Banjo Kazooi, Perfect Dark, ect. All you have to do is look at their approach to the skin packs. Is this a bad thing? Guess that's up to the individual. I would just like some variety, so I can live with that.
I'd LOVE to see Minecraft4kids, that's a really well-done texture pack.
So is Misa's 64x.
And what Angus said, if they do use texture packs from the PC, they need to confirm with the owner that he/she will update them.
And we shouldn't have to pay anything for updates, and they shouldn't be in a pack since I may just want one in the pack and not the others, and I'd have to waste a lot of MS points, they should do each pack separate.

i would dfinetly drop some MSP on a good texture pack id like to see at last 3, and even if they come up with there own they will still resemble the popular txture packs, its just inevitable.
they shouldnt have any real problems with adding texture packs. in essence its just a modded skin for an object. it doesnt change how it works or how the game preceives it. the code that the game is built on is relatively easy to mod, hince why there are so many texture packs out there. now creating a user interface to switch the skin that would require an update to the whole game but would be worth it, as long as they put out texture packs people are gonna buy them... the only question is can we switch from the puase menu. probably not. it would probably have to be done prior to reloading the map in order to give the game a chance to re-skin each of the millions of blocks in a server.. as far as updating goes, they shouldnt need to update the skin packs. they are just textures after all and as long as they dont change the way blocks are formed in the future (ergo. some alteration to the core program that actually aplies textures to blocks) then all in all they can just leave them alone. technically all blocks are perfect cubes and any alteration to the outward appearence is just pixels and paint.. maybe a lil duct tape. so it should be relatively easy on the end of minecraft to aplly this update. im just curious if MS and the xbox can handle it.
I really wish people would stop suggesting these ludicrous high prices in this thread. It makes me think it can't be your own money you are spending. Just don't include price in your speculation! Esp if it's above 240 msp.
I might be convinced to buy a texture pack for 240 points but it's not much more complex to make than the skin packs (are then much more than 45 textures in the whole game?) and I think they'd do better selling a good value texture to a lot of people than a rip off to a few crazies who'll pay anything.
There are definitely more than 45 textures in the game. Not to mention they would have to update each texture pack whenever a new item is added.
