I've seen post about enchanting, and since I've never played pc I don't know how enchanting works. Can someone explain it to me. Can you or someone else explain brewing?

Enchanting is where you gain XP from killing mobs, and then spend that XP at an Enchanting Table to get enchanted items. Tools, armor, and weapons can all be enchanted.
Armor Enchantments - Protection, Fire Protection, Feather Falling, Blast Protection, Projectile Protection, Respiration, Aqua Affinity
Sword Enchantments - Sharpness. Smite, Bane of Arthropods, Knock Back, Fire Aspect, Looting
Brewing is when you get ingredients from the world, take them to a brewing stand, mix them, and get a potion. Most potions have multiple levels where their strength increases. All potions have different levels for how long they last as well.
Positive Potions - Regeneration, Swiftness, Fire Resistance, Healing, Strength
Basically, you get xp from killing mobs(and from other later in 1.3), you spend the xp for "upgrades" to your armor and tools. You can get things like more damage, longer lasting tools, faster mining, more loot, and things like that. Potions are similar, in that they can have beneficial effect. You can make things like strength and speed potions. You can also make damage and poison potions.

Retired StaffFor an Enchanting Table, it takes 1 Book, 4 Obsidian, and 2 Diamonds.
For a Brewing Stand, it takes 3 Cobblestone and 1 Blaze Rod (which isn't in the game yet).
