Sorry for not finding this board and posting this sooner, however while giving tours of my private world I was told to share this. My map seed is -1322363697871711287, and when I first started my map the day minecraft came out I discovered my world was perfect.... I have pumpkins, cactus, sugar cane, the dark trees, and yes even clay. When I first read that clay generation was bugged I was actually confused because it was literally one of the first things I found at spawn. As I said before this was my first map I made the day Minecraft came out.
Clay will remain rare until 1.8.2 where it is made one of the major things that makes up the ground underwater.
I hope you are right, I want to use bricks for walls on a house, but there isn't enough. I got 4 stacks of clay, which made a stack of brick blocks, which is definitely not enough for the walls of a large house.
I am making a new world for the next update, so I hope there is tons of clay for a house.

From the wiki... "Prior to Minecraft version Beta 1.8, clay was a rare luxury material. The Minecraft version Beta 1.8 update changed the rate of distribution, making it much more common. Brick blocks are now a common building material."
Here is an example of clay when 1.8 comes out.
Everything circled in red is clay. It's usually two layers thick as well.
Thanks, I really want to use brick. It is a good building material because it has a nice design and provides better protection from creepers and TNT.
The best protection using blocks is bedrock (which won't in survival), then obsidian, then bricks IMO.
Bricks actually have the same blast resistance to TNT and Creepers as Stone and Cobblestone. Used right though, they do sometimes look better than Stone or Cobble.
my world which was made the first week minecraft launched on the 360 has 0 clay in it makes me sad because i guess ima start a new world after next patch
Sorry again for not sharing sooner
