So after a month + in this world, it has happened to me too.
Started up the server, and found myself in my spawn trap with the bridge retracted.
Pretty lame. Luckly my roommates play too and I've had others on the server too, so my roomie saved me.
Just pretty ironic that I make a spawn trap to keep players out and now it's being used against me. (Like many others who use spawn traps)
So now I put everything in chests and set my spawn trap to escapable before I leave the server.
Two things...
1) I know 4J is "working" with those of is whom have experienced this glitch. Anyone know the official place to work with them on this?
2) As I said, I had my roommate who has already been in my world save me. This means the glitch does not affect EVERYONE in a server, like some people thought.
Spread this knowledge because it means there maybe hope for people who spawn trap themselves, as many quit playing MineCraft all together thinking there is no way out.
That would suck not being able to play in your world cause of that. I'll make sure it doesn't happen to me

I'm pretty sure you just contact them via Twitter or here on the forum. Twitter is probably better though.
I woulda guessed Twitter would of been the last place but I'll take your word on it.

Oh i don't have a Twatter nor do I intend on ever making one. So the forums it is. 4J just tends to be a bit unresponsive on the Forums, but I shall see.

The only way to make sure it doesn't happen to you is don't make a spawn trap. Or make one with a secret exit.
It's a glitch and can just "randomly" manifest itself on your save file. After which point EVERY time you start your server you start at the Initial Spawn with nothing but a map, like you're new to the server.
The good news is, you get a free map everytime you login. lool

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
Because before the latest patch, anyone could join your game if they wanted via a Glitch.
Sometimes I won't be looking at the screen when theu join and will have no idea they are there. So a spawn trap helps.
Now that the glitch is fixed though, I use it to kill" Friends of Friends" who fail to properly identify themselves and ask to play on my server. 4 of us will just surround the player and try target practice.
I also have a small wall of dispensers that shoot arrows OR fire arrows into the spawn as well.
I wanna develop a nice small TNT cannon to assist in the killing spreees.
My favorite is watching people break obsidian. And RIGHT before they do, shoot them with an arrow. People get sooo furious after like 3 attempts.
Maybe I'm just full of myself, but I believe if you're a "Friend of Friend" you should ask the Server host if it's cool you play. Especially how there are not admin controls/permissions on the xbox.

And there's the one thing worse than people that don't read the sub-forum. People that won't even read past the first post in a thread. :| I can never tell if the cause is utter stupidity, or if they're just trying to get their post count up.

So you invite people to your world, and if you don't like the sound of them you just kill them until they leave, whenever they haven't done anything to your world at this point since they are in a spawn trap?
Sounds like getting yourself trapped is a little bit of karma.
Lool, assumptions bro. I don't invite anyone with the idea of killing them. Better yet, if I invite them, I let them out.
You apparently didn't read what it's original purpose was for either.
If a friend of a friend joins, I watch them while they are in the spawn.
If someone joins, doesn't ask to play, or starts attacking anyone then they are considered red flagged and are free range deer, up to be shot at.

That's part of the beauty of the spawn trap. The only reachable blocks would be lava, which you can only fall into.
There is an obsidian floor, but lava all under that too. I promise you, literally no way out from the inside with no tools or blocks.

It's that "get Too many items or something" part that makes it look genuine.

I COULD you're right.
But the point isn't to soley keep players out of the world. It's to prevent people I don't trust (being rude or secretive is a bad sign).
I don't have a problem with new players, as I actually invite any new people to my server.
And it's SOOOOOO much more fun killing someone for half an hour until they realize they aren't escaping.
