I have one single world that's had a constant 8 people on it since the day the game released. None of us have a problem restarting on a new world. We're actually looking forward to it.
You keep trying to make these generalized arguments when it's clear from your thread that a majority of people on the forum aren't bothered by having to create a new world for future updates. You and those who agree with you appear to be the minority.
I decided I didn't want to risk the terrain craziness that happens whne pre 1.8 worlds get hit by the the 1.8 change ( and later ANVIL). So I went and fully explored my ONLY world last night. Then, I went back and built another three buidlings in my village before mining another full stack of obsidian for my nether fortress,
When 1.8 hits, I'll create a new world and rebuild a whole new series of cool things.
I may come back occasionally to my first world - I may set it up as an RPG server for my friends. Who knows. When the update hits all my work in the world (see a picture on page 6 of the stickied picture thread above) will still be there plus whatever I do between now and the update. In short, people who are whinging about having to restart are terribly misinformed and being just a little bit demanding.
Exactly. These kids have multiple worlds so they build one structure on each. Of course they dont mind restarting.
Me and 4 friends have been all playing in 1 world since release. The amount of work we have done is too much to restart.
The thing i dont get is these people that dont mind restarting..... Why are u in here constantly repeating this whole
" just start a new world, u still have your old one"
Obviously we all know that.
Oh. You're doing that again. How is it that you think you know everything about the other guys around here?
I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Not only do I keep playing on one world, I don't even play on the Xbox. Anything you've said about me your last posts (Yes, I know that several of your post has been directed towards me, amongst other people) is therefore irrelevant and wrong. Hell, you even seem wrong about who's the "kid" here.
I'm going to say it again. Restart, or don't restart. It's your choice.
U do realize that 99% of of actual community doesnt post here right?
So the fact that u can make assumptions about majorities/minorities is beyond me
What's even more hilarious about this post is that you complain about his minority/majority assumptions, yet you still make your own assumptions where you pull numbers and percentages out of your ass.
First of all, it's obvious that you don't know anything about the number of people in the community. 99% could be dead wrong for all you know.
Secondly, who is the community? The people who participate in the community, not neccecarily the one's who bought the game. But we digress horribly.
I take back everything i said. U sir are the obvious kIng of the xbox section and should be respected.

In other words, you have nothing else to contribute in your defense and, having realized you can't possibly make a rational response, decided to attack him based on his post count? I'm glad we cleared all that mess up.

He did these things already on the first page. This thread is going nowhere.
I'm all for expressing complaints on a forum if they're valid. It's a great way to keep in touch with the developers so they can gauge the responses to their actions. That being said, I'm going to ask that you all return to the topic at hand and end the fighting immediately. If this continues, the thread is going to need to be locked.
No matter what they release in the new updates, I will NEVER start a new world.
Personally, I think they should find a way to expand the world size before they release any new terrain-related content. This way, they could bundle the map expansion with the new features, and everyone gets the new content without throwing away everything they've worked on.
It doesn't even have to generate a larger map! It could just be a new type of portal that takes you to a new world in a connected but different save file, or perhaps a similar mechanic using boats to sail out to the edge of the ocean, or something.
It doesn't take a programming genius to see that there are both conventional AND unconventional ways to increase the world size, which would solve this entire problem.
One word: Priorities.
Back on topic. This is actually the best idea i have read. The whole boats to the outer edge that would then ask u if u would like to travel to another area.
This would solve everything. This would sastisfy everyone that doesnt want to restart, and not impact anyone that has multiple worlds.
In fact i would like to build on this idea a little more. They could even just do it for one side for now.
Like just the northern sea boundary. Then when 1.2 come they could open up a new section on the eastern side. And so on...
This would also solve the whole argument between creative/survival being toggleable.
People would be able to get access to the material/biomes that they never had. Thus legitimizing peoples survival only worlds

Split screen makes that hard. See, your game loads areas you can't see. This is not a problem given the limitations of a single map. Two or more...well...lets just say the threshold for what the XBOX can handle could easily be hit. If not by regular terrain and mob generation then by stuff like redstone wires and power being loaded from all points on the map.
That is a matter of opinion sir. I have played on my server, with at least 4 other "regulars" to the world, for a little more than a month and I still have plenty of space to build on my map
This is not about space.
I want the world size to be increased, or at least be able to travel to neighboring worlds in separate but connected saves, so that the new features will be implemented into my current world.

Once again, THE XBOX WOULD NOT HAVE TO LOAD MULTIPLE WORLDS SIMULTANEOUSLY. Here's now it would work:
1) You boat to the norther edge of the map.
2) A prompt appears, "Would you like to travel North?" You select 'Yes'.
3) You and everyone in your game gets transported to A DIFFERENT WORLD connected to your first one, but saved in a different save file. You'd keep your inventory and everything.
So your primary world could potentially extend forever. You'd just have to load different sections of it at different times, depending on which world you want to go to.

How is that any different from exiting your game and loading a new world? If it's taking everyone with you, no matter where you are then you may as well just exit and load a different world.
Imagine how annoying it could get if people kept getting to the edge of the world and teleporting you to somewhere completely different. If only the host can do it it'd exactly the same is loading a different world for people to play in.
Just suck it up and play on more than one world at the same time....

That's why there would be A PROMPT to ASK you if you wanted to travel.
And traveling to a connected world is way more seamless than being like, "Hey guys, wanna see what I built on this other world? Hold on, let me save and exit. Alright, I'm loading the world up now, and I'll send you guys invites. La la la la la, okay, you joined. Just use your map to find me."
How about YOU suck it up, because implementing this feature would IMPROVE the game for many others, while NOT making your game any worse.

Dude, you're crying about something that maybe 1% of the people that play this game are worried about. The other 99% either don't care about starting a new world, or already said they'll just play 2 worlds at the same time. The only thing you'll miss out on are terrain features and pre-made structures, which you can recreate on your map if you're that worried about it. Adding a way to teleport between areas wouldn't solve anything. If that were implemented, you would more than likely need a save before everyone teleported anyway, so it would really not be any different than manually switching games. You act like it takes more than 30 seconds to save and exit, then load up your other world. It's a very small inconvenience to you, yet you feel they should be taking time to implement this instead of working on features that everyone could use.
My point is, you feel the game developers should be catering to you and the minority of people who actually care about making a new world or switching between them. The majority of minecraft players would much rather see exciting updates, and take the extra 30 seconds to switch worlds manually.

Minecraft is a game about progress (at least, Survival mode is). Keeping your progress and going back to review and improve it later is an essential part of the game.
If you just build stuff and then you're like, "Well, better start another world", you're doing it wrong, and you probably have the attention span of an earthworm.

"You're doing it wrong"? Who are you to tell people how to play a sandbox game?
I would be happy if you could move to another world when you're already in a world. You could take some diamond equipment, go get stuff you couldn't get in your original world, and bring it back to your old world! Is it that bad or hard to understand?
It would solve the problem of not having certain materials in your world and allow you to bring it to other worlds.

That's nice. You're now reported for not contributing to the thread at all, and you keep insulting other people.
Ad hominem. OP, you might want to read up on that.
Unless, of course, this thread was made just to troll people on the forums, I'm not discounting that at all.
OT: The updates aren't all the integral to the enjoyment of the game... So, I don't see the big deal.
