Over 3 million sales, and they might lose maybe a few hundred people. I'm sure they are shaking in their boots. It was pretty obvious from the get go that with limited worlds, you'd have to start a new world to get all the terrain features.
I don't see why people have such a huge problem with it. Your old world isn't going anywhere. It will still be fully playable and everything. You'll even get all the new items on your old world along with mobs, etc, etc. You just won't get new terrain unless you have unexplored areas. I plan on keeping my old world and I plan on playing it regularly along side my new 1.8.2 world. Everything I've done, can be redone on my new world. It can even be done better.
You really expect me to start a new world 2 months after release so i can get clay.
Then u expect me to start a new world again for 1.8(ravines/strongholds/etc)
Then again restart when 1.2 comes so i can get jungle biomes.
Did we not spend more than 2x the amount of money on this game than the pc players?
They should have just charged 800 msp than just left it at 1.6
4j you need to get your priorities straight bc this is going to lose some of your players.
Lol, no one says you have to start anything bro. Even after the next update I'll probably have 2 worlds. The one I'm building in and at least one more to just explore all the goodies.

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
I kinda agree with both sides. I have had the same world since the xbla release, which means no clay or any other new features. While i miss the absent resources/features greatly, I'm fairly in love with my builds there and just cant bring myself to restart.
Now i would like to get angry at 4J for the launch clay generation issue, but meh. Bugs happen. Every gamer knows this. LoL, gamers like me that have been playing for 25+years even remember a time when if u got a game with a bug or glitch you were stuck with it. At least now we have updates and patches to fix these.
Then you have the issue of new features and terrain being introduced. I cant imagine the havoc that would ensue on my world if those were added to it at this point, as I have very few areas untouched by my building. I have hope that 4J will be able to figure out a way to extend our worlds. Perhaps an area that is 3x3 the current size(with the currently available area in the center), then generate those maps as you cross into them, allowing older worlds to get new features. I know there is alot of argument about what the 360 can handle atm, but there is no questioning that developers often find clever ways to get around hardware limitations.
So we have two options in my opinion. The first is to say eff my map when new stuff comes out, and enjoy a fresh build. The second, to wait patiently for 4J to find a clever way to help me save my hard work, and enjoy the new features.
Insulting people pretty much just makes no one care. Your whole argument went out the window with that comment.
I know, right? Now I'm actively HOPING he gets hit with a corruption bug that wrecks the whole mess just because he's managed to be a rotten combination of entitled and rude.
Nope, spent less before 1.1 minecraft was 10 dollars and there was events every month (99 cents, buy 1 get 1, etc) So only the newest minecraft pc players pay more.
I Agree 100% with the article.. such a big deal was made about this game, and before its launch they never said anything about world size, version or this dlc nonsense. This version is a big rip make right out of the bakery of consumerism I say!
Yet you still bought it even though you knew how things were going to be. Deal with it.

The problem is that the OP is, by your logic, trying to compare the price of a game at regular price to the price of another game on a discounted sale price. Thats more than a little stupid, really. I mean, one day THIS game will go on a XBLA sale, probably at half price. Sure, its not going to anytime soon...but its still NEW. So really, its not fair to say, even under the circumstance you have given, that PC players paid half. A select few got the game on a discount. I refuse to even acknowledge the Alpha discount because the game was priced that way for a reason. It was bare bones, and full of bugs. The whole reason behind its price point was to get player to help them both test it, fuel its future development without needing a money lender, and to spread the word about it. It wasn't a sale, its was a testing phase you guys paid for. A genius move, no doubt, but in no way a fair comparison to our situation now. The game we got was from the end of PCMC's beta build, which is to say...nearly complete.
And, I think if you will try really hard to recall, our price point is exactly comparable to beta PCMC's price point.
Yes I was excited to buy it, it was minecraft for the xbox! Little did I know the rip I was getting-that was the point of my post good sir, read before you reply.
If you by "Rip" mean "Rip-off", you're wrong. They're not doing anything they shouldn't do. 4J is giving you what you bought, and you should take it with a smile.
Stop trying to force them to do stuff you know they can't do. Clay, for example, cannot be added into existing worlds. You've already agreed on this when you bought the game, so stop your whining. You're not getting ripped off.
This guy has 1000+ posts and hes probably typed the word whine/whining in over half of them
In other words, you admit your defeat. You admit that you've got nothing on 4J at all. Now you just try to insult me in the most pathetic way possible. Why are you even trying? Don't you have anything better to do?

1000+ posts and you use the word pathetic referencing me?
Alright, come on now, lay off. And your using posts as a reference to what? It is just how many times they posted something.

I can say without a doubt over 75% of minecraft pc players bought it before the real release.
Minecraft was $20 when it reached Beta 1.6 on the PC. It was also only at 2.5 Million sales.
It is now $26.95 and just reached 7 million sales.
More people have bought the game after it was $20 or higher. Meaning most people currently playing the Pc version paid the same or more as those who bought the Xbox 360 Edition.
You do realize how powerful pcs are compared to the xbox, right? That's why there are infinite worlds on PCs; they can handle it. Simple fact is that xbox cannot and most likely will not be able to handle infinite world generation for a very long time. And it really is foolish to think that the newly added stuff will be added into pre-generated worlds. You can always keep your world, you know that, right? Just keep an old world you can play on and create a new world for new stuff. You have to restart your world on pcs too, so it's not like you are being totally ripped off in any way.
