I am wondering what will happen if two pistons push the same block on opposite sides? Will one piston not activate? What will happen if there is obsidian behind the pistons, will the game crash?
You can push and pull a block without sticky pistons by using 2 normal pistons to push it from both sides (and wiring the circuitry properly). But that assumes there is room for each piston to expand and retract. If both are retracted and up against the same block, clearly nothing useful is going to happen.
I've seen a cobblestone generator that used obsidian to stop the growing layer of cobble blocks. So no, it won't crah.

Thanks, I was kinda hoping that the block in the middle would break.
