and why is that? even if he collects all 15k diamonds and uses them for pickaxes, he'll still have another 20 million blocks to break. have fun making iron pickaxes every 30 seconds. Not to mention, using iron will add an additional 500 hours worth of digging for you, not counting all the extra trips to the crafting bench..

It helps to carry a crafting table with you, along with a couple stacks of sticks and ingots, plus a furnace and all the coal I could ever need. I am not duplicating. That's the thing. I'm mostly using stone and iron tools, occasionally diamond if I'm wanting to get to bed quickly. This is a totally vanilla project, and I want it to stay that way.
P.S. I'm making an iron pick maybe every ten minutes.

oh, you'll never finish at that rate.. 2.5 sec per block * 20,000,000(being generous). thats like 2 straight years of digging without any breaks at all. good luck

Also, in a few minutes, I'm going to start up the map and let you guys join. You should be able to search my gamertag (ozzz10) and join the session. Please follow these rules, though:
>>Don't duplicate. I'd like this to be a totally vanilla project, so.
>>Deposit all your materials as you leave. There are marked chests in the chasms. You'll find them pretty easily, just look for the big hole with a pool at the bottom. If you need to build more chests, feel free to.
>>There is an area walled off with cobblestone. Please don't mine in it. It has a house and is easily identifiable.
>>To get back up from the bottom of the big hole that we have right now, just look for the ladder. It will bring you back up to the surface.
>>Try not to build structures or such.
>>Have fun!
If you have any questions, drop a post here. I do NOT check my Xbox LIVE messages that much.

Well you arent the first. Search up "Operation Bedrock". They are like a quarter done I think. They started before the 1.7 update. When 1.8 comes out i think they will use survival mode.

After doing a little bit of homework on Op. Bedrock, I think it's safe to say that (without bragging) I'm a lil' bit more organized. The thing is, they seem to be a bit more occupied with making videos and setting up stair systems. While, yes, I am only digging to level 12, I have more plans than to just dig and mine. Canceling out the day-night cycle seems interesting, and so does making an artificial nature system.
EDIT: Not to be rude, or anything, but I call into question the "1/4 done" mark. Doesn't seem like it block-wise to me.
I believe for the water, you can place one sand block at the top layer of it, let it fall, and then create a layer of blocks not affected by gravity (ie: cobblestone, wooden planks) at the same level as the top layer of water to effectively cut down on mining time. But I might be mistaken. It has been a bit since I played. Waiting for 1.8. Anyways, I created a forum account just for this thread, so keep us posted.
And my GT is Moogo Tony in case you need more help

In my world we are just outlining the water in cobble then we are just mining below it.
I am dropping sand into the water, then mining the sand.
Does your map have a lot of water? Can you post a picture of your map? Because that way takes a ton of time and gets boring quick.
