Today I watched an Minecraft video that was made back in 1.6 and I saw that the player had apples. I know that you can use an inventory editor to get them but you can't actually find them. Will we ever see apples?
You CAN find golden apples legitimately. They are found in dungeons. VERY RARE though.
Apples aren't obtainable yet. Unless you use an Inventory Editor.
Interesting fact: If you press the right bumper while looking at a red apple, it will tell you that it is used to craft a golden apple

Yes, we will eventually get every item and mob and terrain generation feature that is in the PC version. The next update will be 1.8.2, and after that(not counting bug fix(es)) 1.2.3(which will include everything from 1.9 pre-release to 1.2.3). We are waiting to hear what their plan is after 1.2.3.
Red Apples aren't added until 1.8 on the PC, or our 1.8.2.
