I would try leaving it for a while with the censored text because I think the filter automatically kicks out abunch of words but then reevaluates them. I had "Here lies Dicky McDickerson" on a sign and it got censored but now it shows up fine.
But as a disclaimer i can't remember if it changed because of the patch or not, I don't think it did and it may be worth a shot.
I think the sign filter is ridiculous and unnessary. We should be able tohave anything we want on our worlds, or put an option toturn the filter off.
An option should definitely exist. As stated on the ESRB's website:
ESRB age ratings only address content created by the publisher and do not consider content that is created or introduced by individual players or other third parties when playing the game online.
I dunno. I have my stuff arranged in boxes labeled as what they are.. my Slimeballs/String/Gunpowder box was gonna be "Monster Stuff" but it censored it, so it's "Mob Stuff" now.
I agree that an option should exist but I bet it is in place not to protect your world to protect others worlds. They are probably worried about someone joining a persons world and dropping f-bombs everywhere.
The filter was created and is maintained by Microsoft. It's a general filter for all of Xbox Live, not just Minecraft.
But wouldn't this only apply to xbox live communications? Minecraft is a game onto itself thus the censor shouldn't apply, the cod series has a large amounts of swearing and that isn't censored. Unless of course its because its rated E 10+ but then the ESRB rules would apply..

That I don't know. I just know it's an Xbox Live/Microsoft thing so it's not actually within 4J's power, outside of asking Microsoft of course, to change it.
I know that any game on Xbox Live where you are allowed to input the name of something, like maps or videos on Halo and Call of Duty, have the same filter.

True enough, but it still baffles me as to why they think this filter should be extended to signs in-game. Maps/Videos I can understand, as they are displayed in a public list.

Now, that really makes no sense at all.
As for my issue, it's not such a big deal, I just changed the sign to read:
ALU INPUT
----A----
But, I too agree that there should be no need for filters in any game. In most Live enabled Xbox games I have ever played (as far as I can remember) there is some sort of disclaimer for the possibility of mature content when playing online. Why should that apply only to voice chat, and not in-game material?
And, on an off-topic side note: My computer is almost finished, I will complete it and test it tonight. Expect a thread tomorrow.

Retired StaffEDIT: Shortly after posting this, I realized the game probably thinks I'm trying to enter "puta." My bad...

Quite possible they block the "input a" for that reason.
