Yesterday, I was sieging my friends castle during a lightning storm and a couple pigs got struck by lightning we got two zombie Pigmen.
Has anybody else seen any Zombie Pigmen in the Overworld before.
I have yet to see a charged creeper
Never seen one. :/ But I play on mostly peaceful. Maybe I'll mess around on the other difficulties til I see both the special mobs.
I read the article on lightning but I didn't see exactly how many spaces does it hit at once? Just one? Or does it affect the block it directly strikes and the surrounding ones?

That stirs up a good question in my brain. What happens when a pig gets hit by lightning on peaceful? Absolutely nothing? Does it just kill the pig? Perhaps it forces a zombie pigman into the world? Or maybe it forces the pigman into the world, which immediately despawns? Google time...
On peaceful a zombie pigman still spawns it just immediately despawns. It happens too fast to see. As a matter of fact monsters still spawn on peaceful the same way. They just despawn so fast they never actually show up.

I think lightning has a radius of 3.5 blocks because the wiki says that charged creepers/zombiepigmen appear when lightning strike 3-4 blocks from them.

It would most likely just immediately despawn. Like using a mob egg for a hostile enemy on peaceful on creative mode. He appears for a split second then gone.
