I have been playing on my friends game, and as time has gone on, the world is loading evermore slowly. It loads one chunk every 15-30 seconds. I have cleared a system cache, have 15mbps internet speed, and yet it loads slower than anything I've ever played. It's game-breaking.
Doesn't matter how fast your internet is. It's all about the hosts internet.
Not entirely true, I have a 20mbit connection with less than a 10ms ping yet chunks are still slow for others once you get 5+ players. Plus there is lost connections that happen frequently. All multiplayer matches go through 4J/Live servers on the way to host so there is a possibility of issues beyond the hosts and client internet connections. I have and host a variety of games on pc xbox etc and experience problems only in Minecraft. Also Im sure most have notice voice sucks and cuts out frequently in game unless you start a party for chat. I really wish ignorant people would stop quickly chiming in and always blame the hosts internet for laginess.

You're too kind. I'm sorry that I'm not allowed to have an opinion on a public, free speech forum. Even if it's wrong. My ignorant opinion comes from experience.
I have slower internet than yours, as do the people I play with, and we have very little to no lag while playing with others. Chunks load long before I can ever actually see them, and at around 5-6 players, our games still play fine.

Just ignore him, obviously he [Omega] thinks hes better then you, not even worth replying.
Anyway, though, your internet speeds to play a large role, but its only a small piece of the puzzle. Minecraft Servers operate on a P2P (Peer to Peer) system similar to Call of Duty, in which the hosts connection is perfect and everyone else connection is based on how well they can connect to the host. Problems with this could be NAT related, ping related, and other problems that could be either persons internet. However, there does seem to be alot of problems with Minecraft servers, like the aformentioned mic lag. By the way, I do agree that the hosts connection means very little. Since you're hosting the server your friend needs only to have a good connection to you.
