So i built a portal early in the game and started trying to get lightdust or whatever its called back in the real world- and I got some, but not a huge ammount- and every time i went in, i kept dying....now i doubt theres any lightstone left....
I would go into the nether (where the portal takes you) empty out your inventory before hand. Then destroy one obsidian block on the portal to disable it then kill yourself, you will respawn above ground destroy a block on that portal the walk to a different location above ground and build another portal, if you did it right you will spawn in a different place underground
heh most of my nether is netherrack and lava with a small amount of soul sand and normal gravel. I am still trying to clear a large enough area. it very tedious.
If my world had clay I would make some explosives and blow stuff up. which makes things allot easier
Actually the nether is only 1/8 of the size of the overworld, or atleast it is on PC. I'm not sure the exact messurements but it sure feels alot smaller even than the xbox's tiny worlds
The nether is 1/64 the size of the overworld on PC: X/8, Y, Z/8. It is 1/9 the size of the overworld on the Xbox: X/3, Y, Z/3. You can use these facts to match up your portals closely, so you can have lots of different portal pairs across worlds.
If you've been allowing yourself to lose a lot of inventory dying in the nether, I don't know what to tell you, man, other than don't do that. Save often. If you die, reload.

of course be careful saving in the nether as its prone to bugging the game,
as for the "loads of portals" well a portal ill be generated in every 128 block wide area, given 1000 or so for the map and the nether being a third of that then you can probably get what 9 nether portal end points ?

I love this idea, save one problem....
Don't you need a diamond pickaxe to break obsidian?
>>>ALWAYS save and turn off auto-save if your taking a trip into the nether.
Ummm...how do i do this?
why would you be needing to break obsidian in the nether ? all i usually take is a pick for the glowstone and some basic cobble and.or sand to reach it

I don't wanna dube- am I just screwed?
1. If you die you can reload
2. The nether is infamous for glitching, at least it was a month or two ago.
Also, when collecting, build a cobblestone platform under you to help keep the ghast blasts at bay.
