Ok,
Playing today with my kid, we were both in the nether.
Suddenly she got attacked near the portal and died.
She when right back to get her stuff, and the moment she stepped threw pigmen decended upon her.
This happend a few times in a row so I went to kill the pigmen for her.
When I got to the portal there were (i kid you not) 20 pigmen all ready to kill me. Needless to say, I died.

I went back 6 times trying to get my stuff.

Oh, and heres the really messed up part. The portal in the nether had rotated 90 degrees, and of to its side there was another portal frame(tho not lit)

some pigmen were right on top of the portal and they would jump down the second I came into the nether. I didnt attack them.

I did eventually get most of my stuff, but it took so many tries that I lost several diamond tools.

So I exited without saving. I reloaded the game and the portal is back to normal, and the pigmen arent attacking unless I attack them.

I figure it glitched bad when my kid came into the nether after me. I dont know why.

We also have trouble with chat. My headphones are always broken up and not worth trying to use. I only have 1 guy I play the game with, but it would be nice if we could chat while playing!

That happens sometimes with portals. I'm not sure why, but breaking the new portal and repairing, re-igniting, and re-using the old one might fix the issue.
And pigmen are neutral unless you attack one, then all the pigmen in the vicinity will retaliate.

Yeh, I know how the pigmen work. But we both died and when we went back to the nether (several times in a row) we were attacked the instant we came threw.

I have my xbox set to autosave 15 minutes. So I exited without saving and thus kept all my stuff and only lost 5 minutes of gamplay time.

I had an issue the other day. Me and a friend were gathering soulsand when he accidentally hit a pigman so as expected about 10 descended upon him marking short work of him. I was a good 20 blocks away watching in amusement when suddenly they all came directly after me killing me as I attempted to flee. After returning to neither all was well so we thought, we walked closely by several pigman even bumping into a couple without issue trying to recover our items but as soon as we got near the spot of our death the pigmen attacked us again,unprovoked .
