Can you perhaps explain why, just last week, I joined in a game with my friend's children, collected some items and then had to leave the game for a bit. I was player 3 in local splitscreen mode, utilizing my friend's third child's profile, which is not on a Live account. When the game was started, the online checkbox was unchecked. I was in a hurry and mistakenly exited the game completely. However, the other two children continued playing while I was out of the game with no change of worlds or stop in their play. When I re-entered the game (by pressing start on the controller, etc.) and signed in using the same profile, the inventory I had collected was gone. From what you say, everything in my inventory when I left should have been there when I returned. Any ideas?
Hm... I guess I will join in the necro-posting, since I somehow missed this question months ago. That is definitely peculiar. I have never tested the concept with different parameters such as guests, offline vs. online, split-sceen, etc. You wouldn't think it should have any effect though. Long story short... I don't have a clue.

Boy, this is a blast from the past. I actually think I can explain it now. I think the "offline" profile I referred to was actually a guest account of a Live one (i.e. I think we were playing an online game afterall). I've since learned that these are considered to be "temporary" Live accounts and the inventories don't save. I've also learned that those particular kids can change settings lightning fast.
It would be cool if there was a chest similar to the ender chest that can be used between worlds. Made out of ender pearls, glowstone and diamonds perhaps?
There are mods that do allow you to 'send' items to others are different servers. You can setup 'trade stores' this way with other servers.Maybe with enough support 4j Might add such support, but i kinda doubt it, anyhow just stating that there are ways to 'send items' from server to server.
Perhaps they could make like a world portal which is made of end stone or glowstone which you light and you then get a choice of which world to link it to that would be nice
Thats a great idea! I hope they do something like this.
