I'm working on build that is basically a very large tree building, surrounded by a maze. i've laid out the base of the maze and before I put up the actual walls I want to build in traps. mazes are sort of my thing in minecraft and I've already done easy stuff like pressure plates and trap doors so this time i want to step it up and do some serious redstone work.
the size of the maze is somewhere in the range of 50x50, maybe a little larger. the pathways are 1 block wide, the walls will be 3-4 blocks high, and it will not have a ceiling. so basically any redstone work will have to be done underneath it.
i have about 3-4 ideas that i plan to use, but i'd like to hear what others come up with as well.also, idk if this matters but I think i made 2-3 possible solutions to it. i haven't gone through and checked everything over again, but i know theres more than one and not more than 3 lol.
Might be a bit complicated, but a dynamic maze with pistons? depending on what way you go, different paths close/open. Wouldnt look great unless you had some walls 3 thick to fully hide the pistons though.
Could also make it colour coded with different wools to sort of indicate how close you are to the exit?
Could throw a few timed bits into it, where when they reach a certain point a pressure plate connected to note block triggers letting them know they have X amount of seconds to find a way out, lever etc
yea the dynamic maze is on my list of things to build but it won't be in this one. the maze itself is already laid out, and I want it to look a certain way from above so 3 thick walls are a no go. the maze was intentionally built so that no wall or pathway is more than one block wide, i think it looks better that way.
i really like the idea of incorporating note blocks into the timed traps though.
i do like this idea, but i can't do it in this particular maze because there is no ceiling and it's outside.

You could always make the change in the ground, then. Make large gaps rather than walls.
have dispensers filled with arrows behind a "waterfall" of lava. activate it with a pressure plate and you got yourself an indian jones--esque flaming arrow trap.
Maybe make a button that makes the ground beneath you disappear (pulled away by pistons) and you drop down into a pit full of cacti. I'm not sure if you planned on incorporating buttons into your maze, but this idea might be harder to do with a pressure plate. I think that if you use a button or a pressure plate, the trap would be automatically reset. I've never tried this, but I think it will work.
I'm sure there are other interesting traps you could make using cacti.
Put a pressure plate that opens up the floor to fall in a pit of lava.
I have no idea how to do that lol. I'm terrible with redstone/pistons/pressure plates or any kind of trap.
Just an idea.
