When a coporate rep says, "I'm looking into it," it either means "it's an issue that I wasn't even aware of", or "it's something that I have totally put on the backburner because it doesn't fit within my team's strategic plan at the moment."
Given all the different games on which 4J works (MCXBLA ain't the only one), what do you think "we're looking at it," means?
Wait what? Next big update will have larger maps? Is there a list somewhere with what will be in the update?
No one said that. As far as a list goes, they'll release one when they get close to the actual update release. In the meantime you can read the PC version 1.8 update notes for a general idea of whats coming.
We have never (to the best of my knowledge) had it verbally confirmed by 4J that world size was due to savefile limits placed by M$. We know such limits exist, but we don't have proof that such was the reason. On the other hand, we have had verbal confirmation by 4JSteve that RAM and splitscreen function have almost no impact on world size.
Why would we need them when we can quite plainly see just by going and looking that our world maps already hit the size limit.

Because lots of people will argue about how small the save files are on the computer, and how there are other indie games that have larger save files, and how Castleminer Z as infinite worlds and they are XBLA just like MC so the save file limit can't possibly be the reason, and blah blah blah.
You and I know that the most likely reason is that M$ said "no" because of the file limit and that 4J decided not to push the subject. But we don't "know" know for certain; ergo, saying "it was a business decision, deal with it," is the most reasonable responses that doesn't end up force tomake statements we can't back up with citations.

Well castleminer also has a restricted save file size, its said so in a number of place, their facebook for one I believe.
so... its confirmed something about world expansion ?
Nothing's "confirmed".
4J has been very closed mouth, on purpose, as to why the world is the size what it is or if it can be expanded. (They've had months to address this question and haven't said a word).
The only thing they've "confirmed" is to debunk a couple of reasons that WE thought was the limitation, like split-screen was the problem.
Bottom line is we don't know anything for sure, and they ain't telling.
Why would we need them when we can quite plainly see just by going and looking that our world maps already hit the size limit.
Can you please tell me how you know your save file has hit this mythical size limit and what precisely that limit is?
To me, the suggestion just doesn't seem to compute. I can pull up the list of everything on my hard drive. My main Minecraft world is currently around 18-19 MB. In the Minecraft section, I currently also have the tutorial world saved (which is about 17 MB) and 4 other new worlds that I just added other other night and walked two to explore them (about 7 MB each). Prior to that I did have about 4 other worlds on the drive that I had explored, but I don't remember what their size was when I deleted them the other night. In total, Minecraft (including the program files) hovers around 171 MB on the hard drive.
My main world is fully explored, at least on surface. I have also explored and mined in several of the caves and have been operating a shaft and drift mine in one corner of the map since I began using it. I have also mined clay from almost every corner of the map. I have built a fairly large home base compound with a wall (about 30 by 30) and a house with a basement (about 15 x 15), two fountains and a pool, a 500 m rail, a boardwalk, a wolf run with 5 tamed wolves, and 2 finished rail stations along the line. There is a third station, underground shopping mall, boat dock/marina and tour office and additional rail line in progress. Admittedly, I don't have much redstone work, which I do suspect might increase the file size a bit more than just buildings. However, there are many game program files taking up multiple G's of space on my harddrive and I have spotted individual saved game files in the range of 600 to 700 MB. Why would the limitations on Minecraft be so, so much smaller as to limit the saved game file size to something less than a 10th of some of the other games?

thats small, very small, my current world size is 250mb my previous is also 250mb, and you may have spotted games with some that size but XBLA games have a restricted file size, 250mb as standard though I believe MS will extend them to 450mb.

"The original size limit imposed by Microsoft for Xbox Live Arcade games was 50MB, in order to ensure any downloaded game could fit on a 64MB Xbox memory unit. The limit has since been changed to 150 MB, then 350 MB, and now 2 GB, the latter of which is a technical limitation of the system (rather than an arbitrary limit imposed by Microsoft)."
It seems to me that regardless of our saved file differences, with the program files only taking up maybe 150 MB and a 2 GB limit, the whole issue as is continually being presented still doesn't really compute.

That quote relates to the size of the game code download and not the size of the game save file (based on the original aritcle cited in the footnote.)
I do not know the source of the rumored game savefile limit, I have taken it on faith from other conversations. But then, I'm the one who's saying "we flat out don't know for certain..." so I'm really not spreading disinformation :-)

Castleminer is and Indie game. Minecraft is an XLBA game. They do not have the same rules, and do not go through the same cert process.
sure i have blueprints and measurements of all my stuff
smart plan, though still doesnt negate the fact people shouldnt really have to rebuild them if they arent even wanting to change worlds, *shrugs* well i shall wait and see what happens.
lol. my world has jagged cliffs like that already. i love them, id like for them to expand my world though. just cuase im desertless and wont have any updated biomes,. ive put a lot of work into my current world and would hate to have to create a whole new one for the increased size and new biome types. i think they could fix the afore mentioned problems. but i doubt they will. we will just have to stick with our tiny lil island worlds, i am very happy about the increase in the sky cap though.

except we dont have an increase in the sky cap yet, ie not in 1.8.
