I have an idea that I hope Mojang or 4J will do. You guys know that the only way to get the chuncks like strongholds, villages, etc is by creating a new world or by having a huge chunck of unexplored area in your old world. What if you 4J or Mojang make your old world unexplored again, you know when you check your map and you see all black surrounding you which means that it's unexplored, but the stuffs you built in are still in there and when you explore your world again you will get the new generated villages, strongholds, ravines, new biomes, etc....
I don't want to restart a new world again, though I like to get all the generated villages and stuf but I want it in my world that I build because I have alot of stuff in my world that I don't want to get wasted. Even though you can still load and play it but still you know....
I'm not a whinner, I thought about it, 4J or Mojang should have said it sooner that you would need to restart world in order to get the generated stuff...
Yeah maybe your right... I'm just really disappointed that you need to restart a new world i order to get those generated structures. I was just finding a way for me and other players to not restart a new world just to get the generated structures
I can't for the life of me understand what everyone's problem is here.
I have one world, and have built on a very small area. Have explored the whole map though. After building my base and other buildings on exploring found some better spots to build.
So my first world is my test world, I'l wait for the next update and start over. What I have learned from my first world I'll take onto the next.
How about those that are already ON a second world and havent just build in a small area ? people arent all in the same situation as you.

This.
I also only have one world and when the new update comes up I'll great a new one. one where hopefully I limit the stupid mistakes I made on my first one.
This was actually a bug on the PC version as a very few people did see the things such as ravines spawn right through their work

To be fair.
I have several worlds. 3 of which are for only me (I am considering deleting one lol) and I have a hardcore community world (in which if anyone dies they're not allowed back, excluding me :D) and a regular easy mode community world.
I still dont have a problem making a new world after the 1.8.1 update
This comes down to the game vs toy discussions. If you play Minecraft as game then building a new world most likely isn't going to be a big deal to you as people that play the game in this way don't tend to build huge detailed and elaborate structures.
For those that play with Minecraft as if it is a toy and like to spend most of their time in peaceful mode just seeing what cool things they can put together starting over is going to be a big pain. Some of these people may have spent 100's of hours designing and building things that would be gone and take slightly less time to rebuild but is still a good deal of invested time lost.
If 1.8 does give us creative mode then the pain would be lessened some as the time hunting for materials wouldn't come into play but it's still an issue that is important to some people.
Perhaps the minecraft world is very similar to the real world then, with power hungry selfish builders, who need to spread just like a virus. Rather than understanding that your world is finite, just like the Earth, and therefore a more responsible attitude towards building is required.
last I checked the Earth was a little bigger than 500 times our own height

MeanMinty isn't trying to say that the earth is 1000 by 1000 blocks (or meters), but that earth and it's resources are not infinite, much like the limited world size on MC360.

Not gonna happen. 4J already said they can't touch generated areas. Not to mention I am pretty sure the game doesn't make a distinction between blocks generate and blocks that were placed, so there would be no way to "save" things you built, but regenerate land around it.

Neither is the PC one, and we arent (least all) asking for infinite either, we are wanting bigger.
