Whenever i want to play with a group of friends in minecraft its always really laggy and it takes forever for the map to load. I am just wondering if 4J has said anything about fixing the lag so that when i get with a group of friends i wont lag all the time. If they havnt do you think it will be fixed soon?

This is correct. The most common cause of chunks taking longer than they should is having a slower internet connection. If it's just you experiencing it, it's likely yours. On the other hand, if everyone is experiencing it, then the host is likely the issue.
Obviously these responders dont spend much time on worlds with 8 players, do to there ignorance of the issue and are too quick to blame peoples connection. There will surely be a incoming response from someone claiming to never experience this and regularly plays on a semi full world. Either way this is an issue needing be looked at..

I had alot of same lag problems with this and it turns out my supposed "3.0 MBPS" is actually ".2 MBPS". Lets just say I gave them a call and they're sending out a technician soon... Call your ISP.
