Why do they max out at 65K and why aren't they monitored? Eventually, through enough play, everyone could max out. I don't understand why there is a max at all. Wouldn't it make more sense, and be easy enough, to allow people to get upward into the millions? Who's actually in charge of leader boards? Why aren't they checked and monitored? If they aren't going to be regulated, why bother implementing them?
Now, before you waste your time typing stuff like, "leader boards are stupid!", "I don't care about leader boards!", realize some people do enjoy them. I'm not normally interested in them unless it's a game I really, really, like. Minecraft being one of them. They serve the same purpose as achievements in that they provide an added incentive and objective. Take 'em or leave 'em. Anyhow, any answers concerning my questions?
Instead of Leaderboards (which are infamous for harboring cheaters), they should have just implemented a stats page. One that doesn't max out or randomly reset due to glitches, that is.

This is what I've wanted all along. Screw leaderboards. If we could have a stat's page that could be viewed be friends, then that would be sweet.
Even better if it was jam packed with stat's like passive mobs killed, time played, wolf's tamed, Ore's mined, tools crafted, ect.

This is exactly what's needed. As soon as you put in leaderboards not only do cheaters come out but people seem to think it's a competition. Stat pages that are viewable would be great but I really don't care if you've mined more stone than me.

Give a man fire and he's warm for a day, light a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.
I think it would be good to have a leaderboard and a stats page so you can use the leaderboard to see who is the best out of you and your friends and a stats page to see all the things that you have done
The best of what? Riding a boat? Digging sand?

I don't get why so many people are against leaderboards(aside from the cheaters ruining MC's Leaderboards) . i for one am a fan of leaderboards. I like to see where I'm at in games and see where friends are, who's above me or below me, how much farther to reach this or that. I'm a competitive person and I think a sense of healthy competition is a good way to keep some games alive and even in games in MC which don't really need leaderboards but it's still cool that they added them in anyway. It just sucks that they stop at a certain number and that some people ended up ruining it. I also wish 4J could actually fix this problem(obviously not right away as it should be at the bottom of the to-do-list). Also I could live w/a Stats page and maybe some more categories like Xavier and boxanata said. Like I said before there is nothing wrong w/having leaderboards in games it's only wrong when people f*** it up for the rest of us

Well, in time, it can be possible to reach such a milestone. Just have to be patient and diligent enough in playing MCXLA for hours on end.
I've seen this sort of discussion all the time on other forums, and it's usually about the same thing. It is, for the most part, about questioning those who have the highest scores. Whether or not this was done legitly like you pointed out InboardPG, at least some players do use them for the "right" reasons. After all these major undates and later bug fixes, perhaps they can look into a better system that will be more acceptable for everyone to enjoy.
I'm with the regular "Stat" scoreboard, or whatever you would call it, than a leaderboard page any day.

I agree 100%. I am not a hardcore MC player at all but I do probably average maybe 10-15 hours a week. I am sitting at roughly 40,000 blocks of smooth stone that I have mined. If i played on average 5 more hours a week than I have been I would have maxed out at the 60,000+ mark a long time ago.

While i like the idea of a stats page more than leaderboards, what makes you guys think they can do that any better? The leaderboards currently track things like number of blocks mined, km traveled, etc, and they are totally inaccurate and glitchy. Im afraid if they did add a stats page it would be even more useless
I've mined 50,000+ stone blocks on peaceful and 35,000+ stone blocks on easy, so at least that is really just a matter of tine. But killing 65k spider jockeys... Yeah, sure.
I did. if you can dig up the topic i made about the creeper memorial i built you can see how, it has a bunch of pics. i dug out 2 massive underground rooms, one was a 34 block wide circle about 60 layers deep, and the other was a huge hall, i dont know the exact dimensions, but it was about 25 wide and something near 100 long with a 30 or 35 high ceiling. the only exact dimension here though is the width of the circle, everything else is give or take a couple

Those are both great ideas that I would love to have in the game.

It's the people who have maxed out cobblestone and gravel that are questionable.
