but seriously, all these threads offering to teach people redstone its like the blind leading the blind,
I noticed.
What makes little to no sense, is that none of these "teachers" have a decent grasp on how logic gates can work together, or even how redstone works in general. Those of us that do understand it, realize this idea is just silly. We might help some people from time to time, but we're too busy still educating ourselves. Why would we do nothing except teach people redstone when we are still learning about it? Nobody will ever "master" redstone, there will always be innovations to be made, especially since the recent discovery about chunk loading.
It just doesn't make much sense, especially at the level OP is at, not to focus on educating himself and scrap the idea of teaching completely. Not trying to be a douche, but if you got your head in the game at your age, you could really go somewhere in life by the time you're 18.
also I was wondering if you had worked out if the xbox is keeping all the chunks loaded in the world, or is just loading the chunks that have active redstone in? (possible to make a circuit that could force load certain chunks etc, could influence mob spawn rates/ keep farms growing far away etc)
and on a side note, i've been looking at the limits you can push piston circuits to, until they become unstable and i've noticed building a complicated circuit involving several pistons, I could get almost 50% increase in performance by crossing chunk boundaries (need more testing to confirm) and worse performance building it inside 1 chunk.
I haven't tested it yet, I'll get on within the hour and give it a shot most likely. It won't have any effect on spawning rates, though. Mobs spawn in chunks within a certain proximity of a player, the fact that more chunks may be loaded will not affect the location they spawn. Technically, they do spawn outside that limit, but something in the coding of the game forces them to despawn immediately.
In regard to the pistons, that makes sense. Lots of moving parts in a small space = Lag City, I've noticed this while building noisemakers to annoy my friends. I would really like to make a series of instant repeaters that spans the entire length of a map, turns around and comes all the way back. In theory, there's no reason why it shouldn't work (unless the Xbox crashes) but I would really like to see it in person. Somebody reported that 80 was the magic number for the amount of pistons you could activate at once before the system would crash. That was all most likely within a few chunks in the near vicinity of the player though, so it could possibly succeed when stretched across many chunks. I just really don't want to spend my whole day building instant repeaters. xD

I have been researching about mob spawning and there was a few people who had decreased spawn rates the same with passive mobs. I came across a video from hypno which was 1 a very good watch and 2 something bad in the coding that could potentially stop spawns (mobs wandering out past the 144 mark and getting stuck in chunks and not despawning)

Hmm, that's interesting stuff. has anybody seen this glitch in the XBLA version?
But, this guys isn't having an issue with the rate at which they spawn. (Sorry, in my previous post I meant to type "spawning location" not "spawning rates") I believe he thought that mobs spawned in any chunks that were loaded, not controlled by a limited distance to the player. He was going for a method of keeping his mob trap working while he was far away, doing other things.

Oh yeah I know I was OT, just saw you speaking about chunks and mobs, I know it was irrelevant
You guys are probably right but I still dont get what you guys are saying .o.??
That's exactly why you shouldn't be teaching someone anything. New rule: If you have a teacher, you can't be a teacher. With the exception of some college kids, maybe.
No, I understand the things you we're saying about the redstone but I couldn't really understand your english.. maybe because I just started using english 8 months ago or its just im used to talking stupid.. i dunno which one XDNo more teaching from now on just helping
Moved2USA, don't let the redstone bullies get to you...I didn't see anything wrong with you offering to help other less knowledgeable people work with redstone. A nice gesture actually.
Sometimes this whole elitist attitude with some people on here gets out of hand. An elementary school math teacher doesn't need to know advanced trigonometry to teach addition and subtraction...just saying.
