Iv been mining for diamonds a lot and so far iv noticed that on PC diamonds are found at level 10 mostly but on xbox level 17 and 18 have been just amazing. I was mining for hours and found maybe 8 and I went to level 18 to look for gold and have found 36 diamonds in the past couple hours
How about make a tutorial called Diamonds 101?

the best place to find diamonds on pc quoted from minecraft wiki (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Ore) is level 10
you could just use the simpler aproach and take tnt and blow your house up causing a hurricane effect turning all nearbye mushrooms into diamond blocks this is 100% accurately tested by my cat
