as of yet i havent figured out a method to sustain the note a note block makes. this does limit your creativity when it comes to making music. my solution is that if you stack a note block on top of an activated note block it will sustain for a set number of ticks/seconds... this is the best solution i could figure out and im open to suggestions...
When a current is sent to a note block the block will play its note once. It will only play a note if there is a block of air above it, so putting blocks on top of note blocks will cause the note block to not play a note.
