Well since 4J hasn't been answering my tweets lately ( or anybody's ) the person I've been tweeting is 4JStu. He recently has said when he responded to a tweet that the world size isn't getting bigger with the 1.8.2 update. That's kinda a disappointment to me. What do you think?
Dont quote me on this but i saw somewhere that had a tweet from some minecraft developer that they are looking into it, but they want to get the 1.8 update out before they would consider enlarging the world. But to me it isnt really that big of a deal, the PC version has huge maps, but you wouldnt use all that space. To me having such a large map would just be a waste of space, you wont use however amount of maps the PC version has. If you watch people playing the PC game in videos on youtube of them building such large cities, or whatever else they build, they surprisingly never use that much area. But i can say one thing, even i they would give us larger maps people would still be complaining. So i have a solution to your problem try out the PC version, if you cant run it, which is the reason most of us play the console version. Stick to playing on xbox and be happy we even got it.
Minecraft is a. Stonecold PC game, thats the bottom line(you see what i did there?) the game is pretty much modding, the game was pretty much built to bring in hackers programmers and modders, and i have a theory about that, you need mods to make the game a lot more appealing because it really isnt that fun, or even that good if you meed to rely on mods to play the game. Which to me is a sign of a poorly constructed game, thats why they put the ability to use cheats in single player of the PC version.

When there are plenty of examples of people building, by themselves, mod free, building complexes so big they wouldnt fit on the xbox map it still shows bigger maps could be used easily.

They did say they will look into it, but for all we know it may never happen. And your comparison to PC maps, it isn't so much having the area to use, but having the ability to find everything in the game. Every single LPer I have watched has gone out to explore and expand their world to get all the new things that were added with every update. Sure, they will never use the land, but they weren't exploring to use it, they were exploring to experience the new features. I do agree that even if they make worlds bigger that people will still complain, but for the most part that will come down to what the main argument is right now, not having everything in the game in one world.

Yep exactly.

yeah that was me who posted that a month or two ago when I saw it and I also posted another tweet from them saying that basically down the road they will but world size to them isn't top priority yet. I wish more people would tweet them about getting bigger worlds though. if people did they might listen more and maybe push it up. There was a post a week or 2 ago about breeding being needed in the next update and everyone got on twitter and tweeted 4J about it. I wish more people would do this for world size. I try to tweet them every other day about world size expansion.
Okay, so i remember a forum goer who made a topic asking people to tweet them about breeding. After about a week of harassment they replied and gave us a real answer. Maybe we could do that again but with world size as the question? We have all brought up good points, points that need to be addressed. We deserve to know. With all of the new features being added its absurd to think the map has enough space at the current size. Someone start a thread like this please. I dont have twitter, but if we start one ill create an account just to tweet him.

We should try this.

Larger worlds are going to be hard to pull off with 4 player split screen an option.
You have to realize that for each player that joins, the xbox has to render each player's perspective. Imagine taking a fully generated world, and rendering it x4 on the xbox's current software. It isn't pretty.
So yes, in a way, split screen is actually hold back the world size.

as a repeat no it isnt, it only generates a certain space around each player for them, you can already get them fully separated on the current world size so bigger would make no difference.
Your actually wrong about this. It's not the amount of world data the xbox has to keep in memory, it's because minecraft XBLA is constantly running in four player splitscreen wether you have it enabled or not. This is how they have managed to make it drop in / drop out. The Xbox is constantly having to render four peoples points of view, or at least reserving the CPU and memory space for four players at once, even if you are playing single player. It's basically like having four versions of minecraft running on your pc at once, which anybody who's played the pc version would tell you, would complete kill anything but the best gaming pc's.
If I can be bothered later I shall look for it but we have been told before it just loads chunks around each person so that would make zero sense.

It isn't that it is running 4 player split screen constantly, it is that it is always running an "online" server. That is what allows for drop in/drop out gameplay. It isn't rendering 4 point of view, because there is only 1 point of view to render.
I actually like the limited space because it makes it more like real life since you must really rely on renewable resources. Plus I'm sure that the memory it would take up for unlimited worlds would be ridiculous on the xbox.

I heard that too but I always thought it was splitscreen not online.

Since we don't know exactly why 4J decided against the infinitely spawning world, and since they have already expressed that they don't think it's a big problem and aren't currently working on it, can we move on to some other important questions?
For instance,
If you want a reasonable chance of getting some of the new things when 1.8 hits, how much of your map should you leave unexplored? In other words, how big (in terms of chunks) are the new features, (generally)?
I have heard that one pixel on your minimap is equivalent to one chunk of 8x8. I have approximately 1/9th of my map unexplored (I went looking for clay after 1.7.3 ). Does this mean that I really don't have enough unexplored country left to hope for cool things?
I don't have any sort of emotional attachment to my worlds that others seems to. Everything I've created can be redone on another world, so it's not that big of a problem. It really isn't that big of a deal to start over.
Lots of people have spent 2 months + on their worlds and restarting would just kill the fun of the game for them though... I know after all the time ive spent on my world the thought of starting it all again would just ruin the enjoyment of it for me and id end up ditching the game altogether.

I kinda agree I mean I have spent a lot of time with my world built a bunch of stuff mined for days just starting a new world would kinda kill it for me. I wouldn't quit but it would kinda make me upset. Still I can always play in it again. Sure I won't have new blocks or randomly generated features but I'll still have hunger and sprinting and endermen. So I guess I'll just make a new world and still play in my other one.

You've got no idea how split screen computer games work have you
Neither have you
Well I am still running down the original quote but there are many many forums across the internet where its been quoted that it only loads a certain number of chunks at a time.
