So I've built a track and what not. I'm using buttons at each end to power the cart. I've also placed power rail periodically along the track to keep the cart going. Everything works fine. What I'm trying to figure out is can i configure the track so that i can call the cart back. So basically if I'm at one of the track and the cart is at the other end is there a way to be able to hit a button, switch, etc...to bring the cart back? I know its a n00b question but alas I am a n00b.
It is possible. It would require 2 additional circuits (one running each way) to carry the callback signal. Plus your buttons would need an OR Gate on each end.
You need a *lot* more powered rails for that to work. I use that quirk (minecarts don't go far without power without you) to my advantage. It makes it easy to hop out anywhere, chase the cart, and grab it.
I just keep a small container holding 3-4 minecarts by the switched rail at each stop in my rail lines. No cart on the track? Grab one out of the container. They're so easy to pick up and store away at each end.
my buddy has a system of stacked mine carts when he presses a button it sends one down to him from a holding area he has this on both sides i forgot what he had under them but they are stacked like blocks on top of each other and they come out like a dispenser when you hit the button it sends a mine cart to him from nearby ill have a look at his world tonight and hit this topic back up with how he did it
edit: this is something like what i meant his is a bit different now this won't send one from the other end but it is kinda like what you're asking so good luck ....
I've got this in my world. I use two buttons though, one for call a cart to activate the powered rail at the other end and one for activating the rail at your end. Then my friend and I each grab a minecart and "duel". We each hit the call button, and whoever gets pushed back loses.
I keep 4 chests around my skyrail w/minecarts just for this purpose but i suck w/redstone circuitry so I wouldn't be able to undertake that sort of project w/out screwing everything up but it does seem like an interesting idea and some of the responses seem like it's doable
