I have heard that playing split screen on 4 players isn't possible but I was wondering if I can do two players. I just bought my xbox and stuff and I haven't got anything more than a SDTV atm. Can I play top/bottom on a SDTV or nope?

You need an HDTV for splitscreen. Also, 4 players is possible (again, with an HDTV).
Ya I know this. I was just wondering if 2 players is possible without a HDTV. Also, what would a HDTV be classified by? I have a small probably 25-30 inch in my room and a 50 or so inch in the family room.

No, it wouldn't be possible without an HDTV. The size of a television does not dictate whether or not it is an HDTV.
Ok so how can I tell if my tv is HDTV? Basically 1080P = HDTV right? I don't do TV usually....I roll PC usually but I thought it was about time I did xbox 360 haha

look at the hookups in the back of the tv. Below is a sample of a back of a HDTV (not all look like this)
The two you would need to hook your Xbox up to would be one of the following to get HD picture for Splitscreen: (below the picture shows Video Out, yours would be Video In)
or
Some TVs have a DVI-D slot for HD, this is what it looks like what you would need:
Oh ok. Got one in the Family room but I guess I am going to be buying a new monitor, might as well just get one with 2 HDMI inputs and use the xbox on it as well as my pc. Thanks

from one PC monitor with HD hookups to a future buyer...try to find one with external speakers. Internal ones suck for Xbox. (it will get the job done though)

You can always set it up so the audio comes through a stereo.
Do I need the green cords I have the colors on the back of my tv
Yes, the technology that makes the video High Definition is because each of the colors have their own channel. (In the Red, Yellow, White setup, all video goes through the yellow line,) If you don't have the RGB input, or don't have the HDMI input, you can't do splitscreen.
Quick question, do they make a converter I can use to convert my yellow, white, and red cables to DVI for my monitor til I can get about 140-170 bucks for a HDMI monitor? If so, would it even be worth grabbing for temp. use?

Red, Yellow, and White means SDTV.
Yellow, Green, Blue, Red, White, etc I think is HD as well as HDMI.
HDMI is a single cable with both ends looking the same.

Forum AdminI'm not sure if it works with HDMI, but I know it works if you have an HDMI, and DVI cable, because sound doesn't travel over DVI.
why are you a sectional modorator? is it because you are so extremely helpfull?
