I did come over from the 360, and was under the impression that it was 1 wither per dimension. That makes a lot more sense if you can spawn them both into place, lol.
I will probably build one of these at some point, just to do it, as it is one of the few large redstone contraptions I have not built. I doubt it'll ever be an early build for me though, I just don't go through that much wood. I use a couple of different redstone tree farms that just quickly grow and store trees for manual chopping, but very rarely need to use them.
You see I don't like to use my valuable coal ore's, I'm a hoarder of the ores, I use all charcoal in the furnace array, so go through sereavel double chests of logs a week, for smelting and torches ...
When I first started playing I used to use a mumbo jumbo semi-auto too but these take far more resources, piston and redstone wise, it's just easier to build a wither farm with log converter instead of two big walls of pistons
If you do build one the end is the easiest place to build one, and you can even add a cobblestone generator, the nether is real time consuming to form a cage, my pervious cage took over a week to form, but I did remove a few thousand bedrocks for it...

Create a 4x4 vault piston door. Don't worry because if you use slime nicks the 4x4 is actually easier than the 3x3 variant.
Ps: Slime block make the redstone 10 times smaller you should only need 4 slime blocks
