Im sure there are more then just two kinds but i consider myself a Free hand builder just like the guy how free hand drawings i know what type of building or build i want but i don't really have it planed out i just build as i go make changes here and there see what it looks like than go form there.I guess that takes me to the other kind of builder he or she is sort of like a contractor plans what he builds knows all the specs of the build and can actually see the building in his mind before he builds it.
So are you Free hand builder
Or a Planed builder
Sorry for the typos
i build houses in real life, i tend to avoid doing it on minecraft for that reason alone, but lately i have been, ugh, a labourer on 5 different friends maps, it seems im getting tired of "help me with my slime spawner" i say "whats wrong with it? its not spawning well"? they say "no i dont have one yet but pistons seems so fun" me "sigh, go get me some diamond pickaxes......you ****" them "need any help"? me......"sigh"...lazy pricks lol
On my animal world, I am building huge animal shaped statues. These are usually done by freehand, in dirt, then rebuilt with the right materials when I have the shape perfect. Once in a while I regret not planning (like starting the giraffe at the head, and having to carve out a dozen layers of dirt to make room for the legs).
On my town projects, I like to lay foundations for all of the buildings before I start. I also often build the roads before the buildings are finished.
Mob traps and redstone are often sketched out on graph paper first, then built following the guidelines.
I build almost everything free hand straight out of my head. The only time I don is when I'm building a shape or pattern that's just too much to remember or too complicated to picture in my head.
I look at the area I have to build at and infinite possibilities speed through my head. I could build anything I imagine. A city, a city in the sky, a museum, an enormous statue, anything. Everything I seem to build free hand seems to come out great, I actually built this entire place free hand. Only one of my friends helped, and well, he barely contributed.
I personally like to free hand, and whatever happens, happens. And another reason i dont like to copy or plan build is that what if i need to make a change like add another room? ya know like the plan doesnt always work out. Also i like to build 1 story at a time, like lets say its a 2 story house which i have just built my first one not to long ago, i build the first story completely then add an additional 2 story. and my building style is simple with no crazy stuff, i like my buildings nice and cozy

Hay Bubba, I done seen dat der diamond in dat der CAVE SYSTEM!
I have been learning how to play the game, but I love making free hand designs. It helps looking at other players pictures to see how they craft their buildings and structures.
I just recently started using dirt to i guess you could call it sketch out buildings it works so well so i guess that would be another kind of builder. I think its cool that there are different ways to build and there will be more when that new mode comes creative
i plan out a basic design then add and remove things to make it look its best or plan the layout of a room then move things slightly to make it better

im too lazy to tink of something better to put here so i will put this. cheesefingerchickenpizzalemon wow why are you still reading this is is not amazing, not special, not all that original or even cool?
I go with a friend and we made the white house based of the tour guieds and books in history like bunkers its still in construction also Ive made a mock up of the biggest building in cincinnati which is still beeing built and i built a small community with a super market gov building and houses and medical. Sorrry for spelling
I am not a planned designer. The only time I ever plan something is when I'm looking for inspiration on what to build on google. The only building I really planned was my skyscraper.
I started out planning and graphing out builds. I would always find something wrong or that it didn't work. Now I make aa rough draft of a layout of the area but have started build more freehand .

Sweet if you mimic any kind of build you see that seems like it would the rarest kind of builder
Scatter brained free hand. I have multiple projects going on at once in different parts of the map and usually just build off of an idea in my head. I do get a lot of ideas off of the forums and videos for design elements but not necessarily building shape.
I'm a redstoner and a underground cavern builder (I work with redstone a lot, and most of my builds are underground and are very complicated )

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
I would consider myself as a planner as a builder, but a freehand "city planner".
So I hope it shows that I plan my buildings, but the flow of my world is more like "A windmill would look good on the top of that hill" Or "Here's a pretty flat area, I'll put a row of villager houses here." Then the freestyle part comes in when I have to connect them by roads and footpaths in a way that makes sense, or when I'm like "This area is pretty bare - It needs a couple of trees and maybe a hedge.
I generally have an idea of what type of building I want in my mind, but once I actually start building it kind of takes a life on of it's own and changes frequently on the fly. I have not yet set out to replicate an existing structure...sure I will at some point though.

However I will say this,
I rarely stick with the original outline x)
I usually end up expanding, adding rooms, etc etc.

This thread bores me.
I hear ya. I seem to have more fun exploring then building
