So I used the slime chunk finding program and is it ok if I just dig the whole chunk out and put glow stone at the bottom? Also can slimes spawn on bedrock?

You are going to dig the whole chunk out? That'll take hours. All you need is a three meter tall space.
I don't know for certain if they will spawn on bedrock, but the fact that half of my slime farm's floor is bedrock has not hindered them spawning in larger numbers than I can handle.

I have dug out the whole chunk in my world but it is not very efficient. You will have a FEW slimes spawn but so far i haven't gotten any slime balls. I keep thinking my friend is going a bit over kill on them but they dont break either. But if you do this and have better luck please tell me what you did in case i messed up.

Just punch or use wooden swords. Any other tool kills big and medium slimes without splitting into smaller ones. The small slimes drop the slime balls. Wooden swords make small slime drop slime balls but stone and higher will kill the slime with no slime balls.

Find the chunk, dig to bedrock, dig out to the BORDER of the chunk (you'll have a 16 x 16 square) 3-4 high. Three is all you need, but 4 looks a little nicer, IMO. (I actually extended mine a few blocks past the chunk border and I swear it made the spawn rate double)
THEN...
Go up a layer from this "room".
Dig out the same 16 x 16 chunk, 3-4 high.
Go up another layer, repeat again.
This gives you 3 layers of "spawnable" area for the slimes to spawn.
LIGHT IT WELL. This keeps creepers/zombies/spiders from spawning inside.
Then, go find any nearby caves/caverns/openings and light them too. This keeps other mobs from spawning, and gives you more slimes inside your farm.
Now... dig out a room 24 blocks away from the nearest wall, and leave your controller for TEN minutes minimum.
Return, slay, SLIME!
I have good luck killing them with either torch. Not sure if it matters opposed to punching, but it works for me. I can leave my controller and go eat, come back and run through my slimies and have at LEAST 2 Sixty-Four stacks of slimeballs.
Also, a tip some do not know: If you see you have slimes to kill, you can save, exit, and return in PEACEFUL. They slimes WILL still be there, but no other baddies to deal with. Also, the small slimes can't hurt you, only push you around.
Slimes will spawn on glowstone, but i believe that is due to change in the future(adventure update i think) so keep that in mind. Also, when i say they will, im assuming you are running the current version of software. When it changes, be prepared to swap out the glowstone or suffer reduced spawns. What i did was use the slime spawner tool and found 3 locations adjacent to eachother and mined it all out, 3 blocks high. Use tnt to speed it up. Dont be afraid to dupe some. The community here overwhelmingly supports duping /s. Torches on the outside 4 walls, glowstone in the floor, contain lava pools for extra light. i put a 2 block high glass wall around lava pools to prevent slime deaths. Between yesterday and today i have gotten about 100 slimeballs. Im not sure if that is good as ive never even made a sticky piston, but t is fine by me. I could improve it and auomate it, but it is working for me. Remember to not overkill the slimes and lose your slimeballs, slimes wont spawn within 28 blocks of you(i think 28), and every block you mine outsid of the spawning areas marked by the tool is wasted time as far as spawning goes. Large slimes need 2.4(aka 3) blocks hgh to spawn, and all mobs need an opaque block to spawn on top of((glowstone is treated as opaque in the current version).
Ive been researching and working repeatedly on my slime farm for the past 2 days so i am fairly confident in the info i posted, but if i did mess anything up someone more knowledgeable on the subject will correct my ignorance.
Just visited my slime spot and found 2 large and 2 mediums waiting for me. One of the big guys gave me 14(my best was 21 yesterday), and i got 28 total. Oddly though, both large ones almost killed me. I had to eat more than once each battle. Never had a problem before, what a fickle beast the slime is. Then i noticed my armor was all busted doh!

The first time I used my farm, there were two large and a handful of small, and I just steamrolled over them with nothing but a block of wood, no damage. And then the second time, with about the same opposition, they absolutely slaughtered me.

It is wierd. I changed my armor and pretty soon there are 2 more big guys up there waiting for me. Expected to walk all over them one at a time, but nope, another close call. Made me miss my diamond sword lol.But on the plus side i must be getting close to 200 slimeballs in 2 days. I have no frame of reference, but i am really happy with those numbers.
