So, I made sticky pistons pointing at each other with a staircase below them. I put dirt attached to the sticky pistons, so that when unactive, everything looks normal. When activated, the sticky pistons retract, showing the staircase to whatever. This could also work for an ultimate defense against mobs, as it can be placed completely around your house, and when activated, can suck anything down to water etc....
Nice build!!!..... Maybe use cobble instead of dirt to match the surroundings. Also, if the grass doesn't grow back by the time someone comes around..... it just looks like a secret entrance IMO... Good work over all!!!!!!!! That redstone/piston work can be a real challenge!!!!! Congrats!!! and be proud!!!!

Rebuilding it on a new map with cobble. I found that unless direct sunlight hits the dirt, grass won't grow back.

The problem I found was wiring a lever at the bottom level. You need like a repeater every 5 blocks, as you need to build a spiral staircase with redstone to keep it powered by the switch at the bottom.
One day I will mine everything around it and post the innards of the circuit.

Red stone repeaters will repeat signal for 14 spaces until you need a new one
Nice one though, I have one of these under my piston train station for storage of tracks and carts

Well 1 level to activate it, but it requires 2 levers, one at the bottom so you can get out.
Rebuilding it on a new map with cobble. I found that unless direct sunlight hits the dirt, grass won't grow back.
