I don't WANT to play on peaceful. I want monsters. You can't get all materials without them. I just don't want them spawning in the house I spent a long time building to look stylish and be safe. I don't want to have to make my house a specific way, with specific floors and doors to stop it. That cuts my creativity which is what the whole point of the game is.
Anyway, I've decided to just say F it and go with it. Constant hassle or no.
Is there any place in your house where only block edges meet? (i.e. diagonel connections some thing below - where X's are blocks)

I had the same problem as you and had done everything everyone else mentioned (right down to having my primary home is a cavern system). I was able to sleep there for a long while then suddenly I started getting jumped at night. I tried everything, a until I realized that a creeper attack outside my house had created a couple of spaces where the walls were nothing more than edge joins rather than block to block face joins. I went back and laid an extra layer of dirt in those areas and never had a bad night sleep again.
There is evidence that edge and or vertex joins can be glitched. There are reports of Squids swimming into underwater dome homes through such joins.
