In my college, we're conducting a research about how a person's opinion or perception of something influences another person's perception of the same thing.
Example:
Guy 1.- I noticed a lot of creepers lately.
Guy 2.- Me too!
Guy 3.- Me 2!
Guy 4.- Fo shizzle ma nizzle!!11!!
Just sayin'
Absolutely nothing has been made to the mob spawning system.
lol But there is a LOT MORE CREEPERS 2% as many.

I had a thread about this awhile back and I came to the only conclusion I could think of. Since 4J Steve posted and said they had no way influenced the spawning, I believe it was because they changed the lighting. The darker an area is, the more likely monsters are going to spawn. Since the lighting update seems to have made areas significantly darker, it has indirectly increased monster spawning.
4Jsteve said there was nothing done to spawning. The lighting change may have increased spawns by a teeny tiny margin but that would be al mobs and not just creepers.
I play on hard constantly and havn't noticed any difference in the amount of creepers. When I was building my very large castle wall with my cobble generator I noticed a giant growing mob of creepers just outside my wall each night it just got bigger and bigger. I realized because I was working in a very well lit localized area for an extended period of time, it resulted in a load of creepers spawning and not despawning on the boarder of my light zone.
My theory is a lot of people have done this very thing and thats why the suddenly run into a herd of creepers.
My other theory is some people have been bored while waiting for the update. This boredom led them to duplicateing instead of mining like they used to do. So they stayed on the surface longer than usual resulting in less creeper despawning.
