No, see, that's the thing about this sub-forum. Threads that have nothing to do with duping will be turned into a large dupe argument sometimes that goes no where, because it never does. To start with, I have no opinion either way on duping. I don't do it...but if i had an idea that i thought required it I would consider it (I could never mine enough lapis for all those blocks for the water temple I had in mind) .
What amazes me is someone brought MORALS into this discussion basically saying it was morally wrong to dupe. How is that?? If you play a game, discover a glitch and mess with it and its in a single player game mode...who does it effect?? I found so many glitches in GTA 4 that I played around with for fun...I didn't realize I morally corrupt for expanding on the fun of the game. If you want to drag morals into this then what about killing all of the mobs so that you can harvest their drops in grinders. Those poor mobs never had a fighting chance! *shaking fist* I believe the word cheating was also used....who got cheated?! Do dupers cheat themselves out of fun? Hey dupers....do you feel cheated out of fun? Just thought I'd actually ASK. Are they cheating you? If so how do their private worlds make you feel cheated? Also..what does this inkblot remind you of?
"duping isnt legit"..ok..maybe they didn't go collect all of the rescources to build something but in these tiny worlds that isn't always easy. I have a two year old son, I don't have the TIME to go collecting lapis to build that water temple I mentioned before. I'd love to see the temple complete and by duping I could. Problem is I'm so ocd I'd prefer collecting it all on my own even though I will never do it. Granted a duped build may not be QUITE as impressive as something build from collected resources but does that make the creativity of the builder any less legit?

People will dupe, people will *****, some people won't care either way. The debate is a farce, dupe haters are not going to be happy no matter what even though it effects them not at all...go figure...
no there are no bad effects of duping (except people going rage mode at you) alot of people say dupeing can corrupt your world however o friend of mine runs a server and has duped a shitload and it has never been corrupted so dont worry
I just felt that I should add this, to help answer the original question about duping causing world corruption:
The only time you would really risk world corruption is when you use a block transmuter to change a blocks damage value to get a usually un-obtainable block, i.e. the smooth slab block.
I imagine duping will be used far less once Creative mode hits 360. Until then... why spend any portion of your time worrying about what other people do?
My son played Creative mode of MC on PC first--then bought the 360 version. The Creative mode, however, is what he really wanted. So he dupes until they patch in Creative, and he'll probably not ever touch Survival again.
Having a mode where you have as much of as many types as you want existed before Survival ever did--so people dupe to get close to that until it's added in. Why should anyone care?

Some people aren't happy unless they are shoving their opinion on others. What I'm lost about is why some people go all ballistic toward dupers screaming save corruption. If dupers want to run the risk that would seem like their business. Unless it's done on a shared world and risks screwing things up for others...so what?
Damned Nether....I never know if I should go in after glowstone or not. If I do will I get stuck there because I freeze my xbox or do I just light everything with torches and pretend im not in the middle ages.

It may seem like a foreign concept, but you dont have to say something in every thread just for the sake of being heard. Simply ignore it and move along. Some of use enjoy discussing the topic. Yes even everyday and even when nothing gets accomplished. Once again, one of the nicefeatures about (mostly)open forums is the fact that anyone who wants to participate in a discussion can, and eveyone who wishes not to can disregard it. You should try out your right to NOT talk once! I bet you find it soothing(as well as the majority of us).
i just wanted to be creative with blocks . does that mean making my own lego molds would be morally wrong ?. . but really its just a game . .. well thats inccorect ...ITS MINECRAFT but um yea. to each their own . now i am going to look at dupe logic now
