I was hoping that today's bug fixes would help this out but no luck.
basically what i've noticed is that pistons will lag my game when they're either moving glowstone or changing lighting conditions. i'm not sure if it's one or the other or both.
in my world i've done a lot of redstone work. 9 digit combo lock, 3x3 door, hidden stair case, up/down piston elevator, etc....none of them cause lag. what does cause lag is a retractable light system (essentially just a series of block swappers) and a revolving light house.
i'm just wondering if anyone has ran into this and if they know of any fixes for it. i'm going to continue playing with repeaters to see if slowing everything down helps but any other ideas would be appreciated.
Sorry to hear you are still having problems... I have held back from using pistons until the lag issues with them were fixed and I was hoping to start using them after this update, but I guess I wont be...

That seems to be based solely on light updates, and not pistons themselves(though the probably play a small part in it). I know there was a similar issue with redstone lamps on the PC version. Hopefully they will work on optimizing them. Until then, I would just suggest not using lighthouse builds. It is possible it might not be addressed until we get redstone lamps, as those will require some optimization so we don't get the same lag problems as the PC had.

What I do is make all my things as they should work then take 1 red stone dust out to disconnect entire mechanism and leave it untill they update.
I got a 3x3 Door, 3 different Piston Train Stations, 5 sets of piston stairs, 12 different secret entrances/chests, 6 sets of auto pop up fences, a Piston draw bridge, and workin on a Auto gate for entrance. all work but most are disconnected until they fix the issue
