I tried a bit of 8 bit stuff on the PC version a while back.... mostly, you just google something simple, to get the practice. Alot of folks love to do Pokemon, Mario, Mega-Man, and some other older games. You can find dozens of images for that. Once you pick your image, its pretty simple to figure out how many blocks you'll need to lay it out. I'd suggest doing it flat on the ground, since we don't have flying mode, just until you get the hang of laying the image out.
Pinoy, building a better house is simple. Just don't build a box, and especially don't use the same material for the whole thing. Hit youtube, and take a look at Keralis' Modern houses for some inspiration. He does alot of Lets Play and Tuts for those. I learned several tricks for making a better home in my worlds from his work.
I pretty much just look up pictures of old 8-bit characters but I'm only a basic builder myself.. i have constructed luigi, goomba, link, and a mushroom of super mario bros.
thats what im wondering too ir eally suck at building stuff and i cant even make a decent house lol
Not to brag, but I have a 20 by 20 by 4 house with 3 floors... And the 3rd floor's roof is arched glass. And on the front of the house is a room to protect from mobs and to experiment with redstone. I'm thinking about making a wool statue of an Enderman!
